I found it very disappointing. The mine itself is great and interesting, however the given service and presentations are insufficient for 20 Swiss Francs. Even tough I do know French quite well (Swiss Matura), the guide had such a strong foreign accent that even French speaking people had their trouble to follow. The information given was also not very scientific and not clear. I left the mine without really understanding the details of salt production. The presentations (video and information boards in the mine) are full of orthography mistakes (very embarrassing if e.g.'montagne' (mountains) is translated with 'Tage' (days)) and old-fashioned. I found it also quite disturbing that the group size was huge. At least 40 persons with 15 children. For sure, the children were not very interested in the given information, so it was very noisy and it was impossible to follow the guide (since it was anyway very hard with the accent). It would be of great advantage to improve the boards and out-dated presentations, increase the volume and choose guides with proper French. Otherwise, the mine is great and interesting! The reservation system for the tickets also...
Read moreI visited this mine at June 25th(Sunday), 2023. This salt mine tour is awesome. You need to have extra time if you take the local bus. The bus service finishes before 5 pm. The Mine tour trains may have some mechanical problem(entering) and be derailed(coming out). I experienced two incidents. I had to stay in the packed train with many people inside the small train. It was dark. I felt it took quite a long time to repair(entering). I felt hot and uncomfortable. When I took the train to come out, my train was derailed. We, tourists, waited to repair, but it didn't succeed, so we took the train which carried the next tour team. I missed the last local bus. I had to walk to Bex station. It takes about one hour to get to the station, but we lost the way and took more. The weather was very hot, and we got soaked with sweat. If someone is really worried about in the dark and small space, you need to consider this kind of situation and...
Read moreWe visited on a Sunday and the bus from Bex goes right to the mines. It’s a bit expensive, 26 CHF per person and the groups are large with over 20 people ( and kids). Our guide Nikolai was friendly and spoke French, German and English. The tour was all in French and due to that we missed out on some of the information and jokes. We did have an audio-phone where you could punch in a number and listen to a recording yet not all the numbers worked and there were only some numbers visible on the tour to listen to. The caves themselves were fascinating as is the discovery and salt mining process. The tour is two hours and we had to miss the tasting of local products at the end as we finished 5-7 minutes before we needed to catch the bus back to Bex. Again, it was a fascinating experience but a...
