Palazzo Castelmur — Attraction in Bregaglia

The interior design of the Mansion, although more opulent, is consistent with the exterior architectural style of the building. This palace built 1723 is at an awesome quiet location in the Bergell valley. As witness of better economical times it treasures many items and clothing of contemporary use then. Palazzo Castelmur si trova a Coltura, una frazione di Stampa in Val Bregaglia, ed è una specie di gioiello architettonico con una storia un po’ avventurosa.

All’inizio, nel 1723, era una casa patrizia della famiglia Redolfi. Poi, a metà Ottocento, il barone Giovanni de Castelmur – tornato ricco da Marsiglia – decide di rifarlo da cima a fondo. Gli dà un aspetto scenografico, con torri in stile neo-gotico e dettagli un po’ “esotici” di gusto moresco.

Dentro è un mix di stanze eleganti arredate in stile Luigi Filippo e Impero, con pitture trompe-l’oeil che ingannano l’occhio. Ci sono sale come quella rossa, quella verde, la sala da pranzo e le camere nelle torri, tutte ricche di particolari.

Oggi non è più una residenza privata: il Comune di Bregaglia lo ha trasformato in museo. Ospita l’Archivio Storico della valle e una mostra permanente dedicata ai pasticceri grigionesi emigrati in Europa (una tradizione molto sentita qui).

D’estate è aperto al pubblico con orari che cambiano un po’ a seconda del mese, e c’è anche un’audioguida che puoi ascoltare dal telefono. Vale la pena visitarlo sia per l’architettura fuori dal comune, sia per l’atmosfera un po’ da romanzo che si respira tra le stanze.
