Monte Verità — Attraction in Circolo dell'Isole

In the early twentieth century, a group of people led by Ida Hofmann and Henri Oedenkoven founded a colony on this hill above Ascona. They advocated a new philosophy of living based on an unfettered return to nature, a vegetarian diet, life in the open air with plenty of exposure to the sun, nudism and theosophy. The colony was called the “Monte Verità Sanatorium” and was open to anyone who wanted to spend a period of rest in an unspoilt natural environment. The guests included numerous cultural figures of the time, including the Locarno-based painter Filippo Franzoni, the writers Hermann Hesse and E.M. Remarque, the anarchist physician Raphael Friedeberg and the psychoanalyst Otto Gross. On this legendary hill, where an extraordinary number of utopias and countercultures were tried out during the last quarter of the nineteenth century, very few traces remain of what the “balabiott” (“nude dancers”, as the eccentric characters were known among the locals) devised over the years. The exhibits in the museum housed in Casa Anatta illustrate the habits of those who once lived here, and a few small buildings or huts are still standing, including the Casa dei Russi, Casa Anatta and Casa Selma. The only remaining “air and light” chalet is currently Casa Anatta, which has been turned into a museum, while other remaining “emanations” of the philosophies practised at the time include the “Eranos conferences” established in 1933 by Olga Frobe-Kapteyn, who was close to the theosophists and Krishnamurti. Mein Besuch im Parco Monte Verità oberhalb von Ascona ist ein wahres Highlight im Tessin. Schon die Anfahrt zum Monte Verità, der "Berg der Wahrheit", weckte meine Neugier auf die geschichtsträchtige und zugleich mystische Atmosphäre, die diesen Ort umgibt. Der Park selbst ist ein harmonisches Zusammenspiel von Natur, Kunst und Geschichte. Schon beim Betreten des Geländes spürt man die besondere Energie, die diesem Ort innewohnt. Die gepflegten Wege führen durch üppige Gärten, in denen exotische Pflanzen aus aller Welt gedeihen. Besonders beeindruckend fand ich den Bambushain, der dem Park eine fast meditative Ruhe verleiht und mich für einen Moment in eine andere Welt entführte. Ein weiteres Highlight war der Besuch der historischen Gebäude, die überall im Park verstreut liegen. Jedes dieser Gebäude erzählt eine eigene Geschichte und zeugt von der bewegten Vergangenheit des Monte Verità. Besonders faszinierend fand ich das "Casa Anatta", das einst als Wohnhaus für die Gründer dieser alternativen Lebensgemeinschaft diente. Die Ausstellungen im Inneren bieten spannende Einblicke in die Ideale und Visionen der Menschen, die diesen Ort einst geprägt haben. Der Parco Monte Verità ist auch ein Ort der Kunst. Überall im Park begegnen einem beeindruckende Skulpturen und Kunstinstallationen, die sich harmonisch in die natürliche Umgebung einfügen. Diese Kunstwerke regen zum Nachdenken an und lassen den Besucher die Verbindung zwischen Natur und Kunst auf eine ganz besondere Weise erleben. Ein absolutes Highlight meines Besuchs war der Blick von der Terrasse des Café-Restaurants über den Lago Maggiore und die umliegenden Berge. Bei einem köstlichen Cappuccino konnte ich die friedliche Atmosphäre und die atemberaubende Aussicht geniessen – ein Moment, den ich lange in Erinnerung behalten werde. Der Parco Monte Verità ist ein Ort, der auf besondere Weise inspiriert und zum Nachdenken anregt. Die Kombination aus Natur, Kunst und Geschichte macht ihn zu einem einzigartigen Erlebnis, das man einfach selbst erleben muss. Ich kann jedem, der Ascona besucht, nur empfehlen, diesen magischen Ort auf dem Monte Verità zu entdecken. Hotel is located close to nature, with the main building in the middle of the forest, and it offers a beautiful view of the lake and valley down below. Ascona is located very close by, 10-15 minutes by foot, and there are hiking trails nearby the mountain.

Monte Verita itself has several historical buildings and art that you can look at while walking the grounds, a museum, and its own tea plantation where they sell tea and their locally produced matcha gelato.
