Lago di Lucendro is an incredible mountain lake tucked away just above the Gotthard Pass. The turquoise water surrounded by rugged peaks creates a truly breathtaking setting. The hike up is not too difficult, and the panoramic views along the way make every step worthwhile. It’s less crowded than some of the other nearby lakes, which makes it feel peaceful and untouched. Perfect for hikers, nature lovers, and anyone wanting to experience the raw beauty of the Swiss Alps. A must-visit if you are in the Gotthard region!

What makes this spot even more fascinating is its role in Switzerland's energy innovation: built between 1942 and 1947, the dam was constructed using an economical 'buttress' (or Nötzli) technique that significantly reduced the amount of reinforced concrete needed—an ingenious engineering choice made during World War II.

For fishing enthusiasts and anglers, this 96-meter-deep alpine lake is home to rainbow trout, offering both a peaceful escape and a...

We did the round trip in clock-wise (I discourage to do it in the other direction)

Remember your swimming suit to swim in the lakes! (Not the Lucendro one, but the...

The hiking trail is about 7 miles long and isn’t too challenging. Breathtaking views along the way. Most underrated lake in Switzerland.
