While the stay at the hut was fine, our experience with the hut owner before arrival was so negative that it tainted the entire experience.
On the website it’s witten that they can provide alternatives to dinner, so our group leader informed them that there would be vegans in the group. The owner bluntly refused any alternations to the dinner menu.
We called to understand what our options are, because we often stay at huts and know they have limited possibilities (could they serve bread for dinner? Could we have the rösti on the lunch menu?). He informed us that the alternative menus do not extend to “vegans and Muslims” while repeating that we would still need to pay the full price that included the meals.
Having provided us no alternatives or any compromises, we ended up carrying our own meals for which they provided us hot water, but still paying for half board. I have never felt this unwelcome and disrespected at any Swiss huts. Would...
