This might be one of the coolest things I've done in Haute Savoie. The first funicular is incredibly steep, and long, and goes through a couple of tunnels and under a bridge. It has a cafe, playground, and some old trains at the top. That on its own would be a pretty fun day out with the kids, but then you get on the next train, which takes you along a cliff edge round the corner to an incredible view of mont blanc and the valley below. No special clothing or equipement is needed and it's really for people of all ages! Try to go on a clear day otherwise the views won't be the same. Even though it's high up the mountains, on a sunny day you will enjoy nice weather there also. There is a cafe on the first stop but also on the highest one which gives a nice view over Mont Blanc.
