Visited from the UK, where we've already enjoyed just about every chocolate factory experience the UK has to offer, so our expectations for a chocolate-themed attraction are already pretty high. This one is really special, though! The Chocolarium is very interactive, making it great for children - a good blend of education, fun and a little bit of magic. The chocolate samples were delicious, and myself and my 10 year old were completely in awe of the last bit of the tour where you can see so many different elements of the factory at work - that's an experience that hasn't existed in the UK for a long time, but took me back to what Cadbury World used to be like when I was a child, before it became an overly-commercialised visitor attraction. My daughter also loved that the moment we stepped off the train it felt like the experience began, following the signs for the 'Chocolate Way' through Flawil's streets and countryside. Not an overly-long walk, and the excitement builds as you walk through the field with the factory getting closer! We liked how the tour was completely self-led so we could go at our own pace, and at the end my daughter really enjoyed decorating her own chocolate bar. It's also worth saying that the shop at the end is VERY fairly priced, so I couldn't resist buying a few souvenirs, and both the chocolates and jelly sweets are probably the best I've ever tasted so I wish I'd had space in my hand luggage for even more! We combined our short break trip to the Chocolarium with a visit to the Lindt Factory, which was a very different kind of experience. We loved both, but if you could only do one I would really, really recommend prioritising The Chocolarium. It's something extra-special!

Maestrani's Chocolarium truly lives up to its name – it's a paradise for chocolate lovers of all ages! From the moment you step inside, you're immersed in the wonderful world of chocolate. This place is absolutely fantastic fun for children. The interactive exhibits and playful way information is presented make it highly engaging and enjoyable for younger visitors. It's clear that making the experience joyful was a key goal, and they've succeeded brilliantly. Beyond the sheer fun, the Chocolarium is also surprisingly informative. You get wonderful insights into the entire chocolate-making process, from the cocoa bean journey to the final Maestrani product. It also offers a fascinating look into the history and heritage of the Maestrani brand itself. Overall, it's a delightful experience that brings a lot of joy, offers plenty of delicious tasting opportunities, and provides interesting knowledge along the way. Highly recommended for families or anyone looking for a happy and sweet adventure!

We had an unforgettable experience at the Chocolarium! From the moment we arrived, the passion for chocolate was palpable. The interactive tour was both entertaining and educational, offering fascinating insights into the chocolate-making process. Watching the live production through the glass gallery was truly unique and captivating. The highlight for us was the “Room of Individual Happiness” with its variety of chocolate fountains-especially the pink raspberry and vegan options-which made tasting so much fun. Creating and decorating our own chocolate bars was a fantastic hands-on activity that everyone enjoyed. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the café and shop offered delicious treats and wonderful gift ideas. I would highly recommend the Chocolarium to anyone looking for a sweet, fun, and memorable outing.

What a wonderful place to learn about the making of Swiss Chocolate. The touring area is a Willy Wonka style, children's paradise with many interactive activities. The "big kids" will enjoy too. Chocolate tasting opportunities are available with excellent results. There is a workshop to make your own chocolate bar at the end. I am not sure of the cost because we had a private tour with a cruise group that included the activity in a separate room. Really a fun activity. We did not use the phone app available for an audio tour because we had a guide with us but heard it worked pretty well and is available in English. There are hand sanitizing stations everywhere and readily available before tasting opportunities. Most people are not wearing a mask so if you feel more comfortable with one would recommend an N95 for optimal protection.

The Chocolarium was part of a day trip from Zurich. The tour of the site started with a well made video of the Maestrani family that started the chocolate factory. Once you complete the video there is a small "walking museum" with many hands-on activities (well suited for children) and finally near the end of the tour you get to see the packaging room where wrapped chocolates are deposited in dispensers for the taking and tasting. After the walking tour, you have a chance to enter the gift shop and purchase some gifts and chocolates. Since "food safety" requirements are quite strict in Switzerland, you actually are not allowed onsite when the chocolate is processed and packaged - that was a bit disappointing.

I liked the way they let us see the chocolate factory. People working down and see how the chocolate wrapped up. First you will see a little movie then you can see how chocolate come to Switzerland. You also can taste 3 different chocolate. Them you can do your own decorated chocolate, you need to purchase first. The downside was for me...a tons of kids...but a lots of them and I felt the rooms were too small in this case....at the decoration room...oh my gosh.. it felt like q packed playground. Maybe because it was already vacation time from school...I don't know. It was middle of the week in the afternoon. You can also try samples during the "tour ". You can buy in the end a lot chocolate.
