Hiking the mountains often presents surprises, at least to amateurs like me. Yesterday, my first surprise was that this lake is quite far from the parking Erié where I had left my car. The vertical drop to the lake is not that important but I did not reach my goal until 5 p.m. having started 2 hours earlier, when most people had already left, which in itself, is perfect for photographing the lake and mountains around in the setting sun. The marmots had come out to graze but I could not come very close and the lens I had brought was a little too short. My second surprise was on the way back at the highest part of the trail, when I suddenly was standing face to face with a family of chamois, mom, dad and kid, that I could follow downhill high above the village of Fully for quite a while before they decided to abandon me. So when I returned to the parking it was almost dark and my car was the only one left. I took the gravel road down via Ovronnaz having driven up directly from Fully, a road that I do not recommend, unless you have a small car. In all, a great hike that you should start...
