This place is extraordinary not only in summer or autumn but as well during winter time. I have visited it on 1st official day of the spring 31.03.2021 but this is what I have experienced. The lake was frozen, lots of snow everywhere and no people at all. You can’t get there over week days during the winter time but only during weekend and still you can hardly meet anyone. It was so beautiful ... I wished I have taken snow shoes to walk on that huge amount of snow. You could only walk on main road paths as the rest is totally covered in huge amount of snow. So I recommend to visit and def take snow shoes to fully enjoy this snow paradise.

I have posted as well the sound of mountain creek with winter background last night so I invite you to listen to that magic 1h recording. Pls check HSN Healing Sound Of Nature YT channel 💫🥰

I did not manage to get to the waterfall unfortunately due to the amount...

Wow. Just wow. You can reach the Klöntalersee from the Glarus main train station. It is a 16km hike there and back through forested area and slightly uneven terrain, so definitely wear proper hiking shoes and appropriate clothing. We did this hike now in winter, early January. Note that there is no public bus service running in the winter months between the Glarus Bahnhof and the Klöntalersee, hence the 16km hike and back and hence our starving tummies which were duly satisfied by eating at City Glarus Restaurant near Glarus Bahnhof. However the views from our hike were just amazing. And awesome feel of being surrounded by high peak mountains and stunning forest and then to be met by the Klöntalersee at the end was all worth it. It will definitely be a place I will be visiting in the summer to...

848 mNN, 5 km long, many restaurant/cafes around, camping site, hotels, parking, barbeque spots. Easy to reach by bus as well from Glarus Station. The Klöntalersee is a natural lake that was extended to a reservoir lake about a hundred years ago, making it the oldest reservoir in Switzerland. Around the lake there is a hiking trail with spectacularly beautiful stone beaches, barbecue areas and waterfalls. At both ends there are parking lots and guesthouses, at one is the very popular campsite with a great mountain panorama. Also a worthwhile...

This is a very beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains, the water is crystal clear with a hint of turquoise. If you wanna go there on the Weekend or a public bank day be aware that they close the road to the lake sometimes / due to the high traffic, but you can still go there with a Bicycle or a Motorbike, or just by walking / that will take you about 1 hour from the nearest village.
