I LOVE visiting mediaeval European castles.
I first visited this place about two years ago and was a bit disappointed to see a coach load of tourists walking everywhere and preventing my colleagues and me from getting a seat in the restaurant or being able to view the interior in peace.
I made a vow to return at a quieter time and that happened last Sunday. I drove 50km from my home and arrived at 13.30.
Despite being within the opening times, all the doors were shut!
There is an information plaque at the entrance with a QR code for further details. I scanned it but it only returned a "404 Page not found" page.
So my 50km journey ended with me and my companion just walking around the perimeter.

Part of the castle is now a museum and there is a small restaurant. we didn't have time to eat but we ordered a Prosecco. The service was very friendly and the restaurant was half full. The prices seem to be average a little bit higher. Everything served looked really good from what I could see from a distance. I also ordered a portion of ice cream.
