Zurich Wilderness Park Sihlwald — Attraction in Horgen

So, the whole park is really big, but also restricted. There is a bunch of trails to either walk, bike or horseback riding, and the trails are through a big forest area. There a designated area for BBQ, and next to the river it's great to go for a swim (and a BBQ if you like). We didn't see any animals when we rode our bikes, but I'd guess the chances are higher than other places (if you go to the Wildnispark Langnau you would be guaranteed since they animals are caged there) The trails are well marked and in shade if you are biking on a sunny day like us. The Sihlwald House area is a popular place to arrange birthday parties, or just play with the kids. The steamtrain goes by this place one a month, and that is definitely worth it as well! Remember to always pick up your trash in the forest, and respect the signs to only follow the trail and not pick flowers and mushrooms in the Kern Zone, the core zone. Nice big area with nice areas near the river which a family can take a BBQ and set up base for the day. I didn't explore all but there are also lots of hiking trails from here and a nature trail with exciting secret places to explore and learn. There's a big picnic area with lots of sheltered tables and an information centre and restaurant.

Plenty of parking. Three grill places open to the public with free firewood. Plenty of tables and seating for free protected from rain in the two large sheds. Large playground, restaurant and a visitor centre complete the list of structures. Nearby exhibits for children include otters, fish and beavers.
