Clear air, impressive mountains, deep blue lakes and above all the Heidi myth, which has retained its great magic: In the holiday region Heidiland, Lake Walen with Churfirsten, the summer and winter sports areas Flumserberg and Pizol, the Sarganserland with its side valleys and the vineyards of the Bündner Herrschaft form the backdrop for recreational experiences with added value. The tourism region in the border region of the cantons of St. Gallen and Graubünden can be reached via motorways or by train from Zurich or Lake Constance within one hour. Families immerse themselves in the world of Heidi and Peter at the original site of Heidi history, active guests are on their way between lake and mountain with a hiking backpack or mountain bike or regenerate in the health resort Bad Ragaz. Wine staggers, over a dozen gourmet restaurants and local culture await connoisseurs. In the cold season, the winter sport areas of Flumserberg and Pizol with over 100 km of slopes are a delight.

Not very interesting. Only explanation we found of Heidi’s story is a long and boring text in the museum. The houses seriously lack a storyline, it’s just a bunch of rooms with objects. There are other and better museums about the old times in Switzerland and Liechtenstein than this one, so I don’t get the point of Heididorf. All in all, you go to Heididorf to see Heidi and its characters, not random antiques. The experience would be much improved by adding audio and recreating scenes from the japanese anime. Perhaps creating a longer walk and distribute some figures of the anime along the path would help. Adding a Rodelbahn going through some Heidi scenes could be a fun way of telling the story. The highlights for me were the figures, one at the parking lot entrance, which is free to see. A second one behind the Rathaus/Schule which can’t be seen without an entrance ticket (14 CHF).

This is the most magical place for anyone growing up in the Joana Spiri era of Heidi! This is the real Heidiland (Heididorf) with all the history, the housing, the artifacts and the ecosystem around Heidi back in time. I truly enjoyed the “real life experience” feeling with all the goats and the chickens, even her little school! Heidi’s Grandfather love for her could be felt throughout the neatness and the richness of the activities they shared! The souvenir shop is a bit expensive but it has lots of related merchandise. From stickers to wooden heirlooms and so much more. I came from North America so the point of sale machine was a bit different from the ones used in America and I meant North, Central and South America. Also, there was no “English” transaction option at the time I visited there.

Visiting Heidihof Village for the first time was a wonderful experience that brought back a flood of childhood memories. As someone who grew up watching the beloved Heidi cartoon in the 90s, being in this picturesque village felt like stepping into the scenes of that heartwarming story. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene, with stunning alpine views all around. One of the highlights for me was the small local store that offers a variety of custom clothing and unique gift items—perfect for taking home a piece of the experience. Whether you’re here for the nostalgia or simply to enjoy the charm of Swiss countryside, Heidihof is a delightful place to visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a mix of nature, history, and a touch of childhood magic!

Small village where history of Heidi, an orphan and identical with Swiss :) The town call Maienfeld, just few minutes by car from Bad Ragaz. Not so far from exit toll (highway). It’s easy to reach, there are many signs (brown color) written HEIDIDORF with picture of little girl in every cross section. You can come for free but if you want to visit/enter (inside) the building (Heidi house, town hall, etc) then you must pay/buy a ticket There is one building (ticket shop) Nice to come here with family and enjoy the nature especially when it’s nice weather. There is parking space in front of the hotel Restautant, near Heidi-Peter statue. Walk only 3-5 minutes to Heidi village. Possible come with stroller, but the route is not asphalt.

We went to visit Heididorf after its closing hours which was very relaxing. Views are stunning. Our kids of 3 and 4 had fun playing at the water fountain, drinking from it and being at the small animal zoo. We didn't have to pay anything for parking nor entry. You can park your car at the Heidihotel. From there it's about a ten minute walk to get to Heididorf. There is no way to get any closer by car. The path from the parking to Heididorf is marked with small signs. If standing in front of the Heidihotel facing it, go all the way to the far right of the parking lot where you will see a trashcan and a tiny trail which will lead to Heididorf. No barriers and steep cliff next to it, so look after your kids.
