I joined the full-day beginner ski lesson today, and I must say the view is absolutely stunning. Skiing here is truly amazing. And this is my first time to learn skiing and I was so excited about it. The rental shop staffs are good and help u to choose with suitable size of gloves and shoes, and help u to put them on nicely.
However, there is a significant disparity in the attention and assistance provided by ski Coach Allan. He seemed to focus only on students with strong skiing abilities, neglecting those of us who were struggling as beginners. It was disheartening to see that when a student fell and couldn't get back up, the coach offered no assistance and chose to ignore them and continue the lesson.
Additionally, Coach only took the time to film the more advanced players, and unfortunately, I was the only student he declined to film, citing time constraints even though we still had 45 minutes left. This left me feeling upset and discouraged. We end the class at 3:45pm. After returning the rented clothes, we were able to leave the interlaken based at 4:30 pm which was 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled end time.
The lesson is rushed with a multitude of skills to learn. I suggest that this class is ideally suited for "beginners" who can quickly grasp these skills in one go, but not for real beginners who may require more time to master them. Private lessons would be more suitable for the latter group. The coach did abandon the people who didn't grasp the skills quickly and left them alone for the entire afternoon session. Despite paying the same price for whole day session, only get to learn the skill half day only. ——————————— In response to the team’s reply, I am extremely disappointed with your response. It feels dismissive and fails to acknowledge the valid concerns raised.
I understand that video recording may not be guaranteed service, but the core issue here lies in the unequal treatment of participants based on their skill level.
While you claim that efforts were made to support all participants, the reality was that some of us, particularly beginners, were left neglected and abandoned to practise alone during the whole afternoon session.
It is concerning that the issue of favouritism towards more skilled persons and abandoning those individuals with fair skills was not acknowledged and addressed directly in your response. Abandoning individuals during the lesson is absolutely unacceptable. It is appalling and utterly disgraceful to neglect participants in such a manner. This behavior is not only unprofessional but also demonstrates a complete lack of regard for the well-being and progress of all students. It is imperative that you acknowledge and rectify this gross negligence immediately to ensure a fair and supportive learning environment for everyone involved.
I expect more than just lip service. Your response does not reflect a genuine commitment to improving the learning experience for all students. It is essential that you take concrete actions to address these issues and ensure that no participant feels disregarded or left behind in...
Read moreOutdoor is not a company you should complete a via ferrata with, noting we did the guided Murren-Gimmelwald via ferrata with Outdoor. There were several problems, which are noted below.
First of all the entire tour was rushed. We arrived, but had forgot gloves (traveling internationally and we forgot to pack in our luggage), we were rushed to start and could not enter the store to rent or buy gloves for the experience, we ended up starting over 15 minutes early.
During the first ~ quarter of the experience people were split up and the order of participants changed. There was absolutely no reason for splitting up participants communicated. When you pay 169 francs per person to do an activity with your girlfriend it would be nice to actually do the activity with them instead of being separated.
While descending one series of rebar steps the guide starting to pull on my leg. The guide did not say anything to me, he just started pulling on my leg. As a normal person would do, I asked him to let go of my leg, but he did not understand me (poor english), so I repeated by saying "Stop Touching Me". He Just continued pulling on my leg harder and said he'll touch anyone. It was a steep slippery section so I was being careful and slow in my movements and foot placement. It is highly unprofessional and dangerous for anyone, let alone a guide, to start pulling on your leg while descending a via ferrata. There are cases where it is plausible that for safety purposes a guide would help a participant, but the guide would talk or communicate to the participant in advance. In this scenario I was not in danger, I was just being careful... I think the guide did this to rush the tour along.
The waiver process was also rushed, and Outdoor engages in unethical business practices. The liability waiver is on a different sheet from the actual signature sheet. We were rushed to sign the signature page but were never shown the actual liability waiver. After some googling I understand there have been some serious injuries on other tours / experiences by this company which makes it even worse that participants are forced to rush through the waiver and in many cases are not given a chance to even see the liability waiver.
Overall the quality of the Via Ferrata tour in Murren with Outdoor Company is extremely bad. The views and location are 5/5. The Via Ferrata course itself is 5/5. However the guide was un professional and we were rushed during every step of the experience. Considering the tour costs 169 francs per person the company and guide should put more focus on professionalism and also letting participants enjoy the experience, instead of just rushing everything so the guide gets a longer...
Read moreMultiple amazing experiences with OUTDOOR! My partner and I booked the Night Sledding with Fondue experience as well as the Ice Climbing Taster Course. I was struggling to find fun winter activities that did not involve skiing during our trip to Switzerland but am beyond grateful that I discovered OUTDOOR.
Their activities were based in Interlaken or Grindelwald which were very easily accessible by the excellent Swiss public transportation network. Both of the guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and prioritized our safety. All of the staff that we interacted with from the company was kind and helpful, and operations felt organized and efficient. Despite having many different activities occurring at overlapping times and many different employees corralling dozens of customers at all times, everything ran like a well-oiled machine.
For night sledding, our guide was Alan. The activity itself was very fun and going at night provided a unique challenge, but Alan ensured that we were safe and well looked after throughout the evening. We drove about 20 minutes from the meeting spot to get to the mountain. It included a gondola ride as well, and then one track down the slope but broken up into several shorter rides. Definitely DO wear good, strong hiking shoes, not sneakers! The guides all coordinated our rides afterwards and even dropped us at our train station after the fondue!
For Ice Climbing, our guide was Andreas. He was very patient and helpful throughout the day! This full day taster course was perfect for anyone with no or minimal climbing experience but with determination and interest in ice climbing. I felt like I had more than enough opportunity to learn about the techniques, how I could improve in the future, and try multiple different routes. I could only do a couple of tries, but thankfully it was more of an issue that my muscles were too tired to continue rather than the activity not permitting me to continue. It was also nice that their shop had a cafe with hot chocolate to enjoy after the cold weather.
I could not recommend this company...
