We went to visit the Light Ragaz show of 17.30. You need to pre-order your tickets online and be at the tourist info in Bad Ragaz between 16.30 and 17.00 hours to get a wrist band after showing your online purchased tickets which grants you access to the tour. Price is 25 CHF per adult. You can park your car in the parking garage under the tourist info point in Bad Ragaz. Fee is 2 CHF per hour and if you just go to see the tour you will park 2 hours in the garage. The parking fee machine only takes Swiss Francs coins and bills and Euro bills. No Euro coins and no cards of any kind, so be prepared. When paying with an Euro bill, you get your change in Swiss Francs against the very unreasonable 1:1 conversion. Free clean toilets in the tourist info and parking garage. Tickets include the bus ride from right in front of the tourist info on the other side of the street to the schucht. There is absolutely no way to get to the schlucht with your own car so you need to park in Bad Ragaz. No exceptions and no other ways. Sitting on the left side in the bus going to the schlucht and on the right side going back offers the best views over the water flow right next to the very narrow road the bus will drive over. There's a limit of 90 tickets sold and people will be divided over two busses. The light show we only found moderately impressive. The light show in Eindhoven The Netherlands each year at the totally free Glow event offers way more stunning light effects. There is a story being told during the walking tour which is told both in German and in English, which is nice. It's only about the gold all the time with which they indicate the hot water source that origins in the schlucht. The story gets boring real soon. You get to feel the nice hot water yourself through a tap. The water flow in the schlucht was very muddy when we were there. If you go with the regular flow of people you will get through the walking tour in 30 minutes. If you really stick at every point to watch the entire show and take pictures you will spend one hour. The bus back departs 1.5 hour after arrival at the schlucht, so it was 19.00 hours for us. That gives you plenty of time to see everything. It's best to just stick behind at the tour to avoid visiting all stops with a huge group of people. You won't get wet other than a few drips of water on your head and it doesn't get really cold in the schlucht. All in all we didn't find it worth 25 CHF per person. Especially considering that without the light effects you can visit the schlucht during the day for just 5 CHF per person. That would be worth it, 25 CHF isn't. It's totally safe to bring kids. Our kids of 3 and 4 didn't enjoy it very...
Read moreMust be an interesting place but when I tried to get there, there was not one single sign in Bad Ragaz showing how to get there!!
At first I tried to go by car, as I didn't know that it was not possible and this is not entirely my fault, because I found "Tamina schlucht (gorge)" in Google maps and instead of showing me that I had to walk (or take a bus) , it drove me to a completely irrelevant place on a mountain road with absolutely nothing to see or to do. Then I drove back to Bad Ragaz only to find out that there are absolutely no signs showing the way and only after asking in various places I figured out that I had to either walk or take the bus. I went to the bus station only to find out that the next bus was going to come in more than an hour and a half (as if I didn't want to visit the most popular point of interest in the area but some far-away village away from civilization...) I didn't have too much time to spare so I just skipped it..
I was really surprised because Switzerland in general is very well organized having signs and regular commute for every little thing worth seeing... But this one was like they wanted to hide it on purpose so that no-one can find it and visit it!!
I'm giving it just one star (and Zero to Google Maps!!) not because of the place itself which I'm sure must be beautiful, but because of the lack of organization, compared to everything else in...
Read moreWell worth the visit. It’s a beautiful walk along the river through a forest with awesome mountains on each side of the path you walk. There is also a bus option but I would recommend checking the bus time table (bus departs from the main train station ). Once you get to the main ‘schlucht’ area there is a CHF 5 to walk through a very interesting museum and to also walk through the actual ‘schlucht’ where you will be able to see the steam coming from the schlucht. I would recommend you wear appropriate footwear as when you are in the ‘cave / schlucht’ area is can be slightly wet. Very well worth the visit. You can the proceed on a further hike - almost like a round trip. The hike is quite steep and I would say you need to be reasonable fit. We took the route 937 off the Swiss mobility app. It was beautiful with superb scenery and the route brought us back to the centre of Bad Ragaz and ended in the most spendid flower...
