I've been here a few times and Creux du Van has been spectacular in every season. It's a beautiful & natural rock formation in the Juea mountains in Western Switzerland, quite close to the French border. A little planning is required if you are using public transport. Plan to travel to Noiraigue by train. The trek to the top and around the edge is nice. Not very stressful. You can pause half way to the top in the small farm with the goats and chickens. At the top there are several locations for some really spectacular photos and if you are lucky you can even seen some wild deer here at the top of the cliffs. There is a path to walk back through the centre of the trees within the trees below an you'll pass close to the foot of the cliff. Beware of the occasional falling rock. Best during summer. There a place to stay down below with a path describing how...
Read moreGreat view but hard trail to hike up How to get there? If you take public transportation, you get off at railway station: Noiraigue. The way up: you will turn left, then right, then you follow the signs to sightsee spot: Le Soliat. That are two paths upwards: I took the right side one, it is relatively long, but not so steep. Be careful that the way up is very nature, you will need good hiking shoes! Plan more time if you have kids with you. It took us 3 hours to up, and 2 hours downhill. The path is quite rough and tough, I warned you 😂
If you drive there, it might drive up to the restaurant Le Soliat. Please call them to verify. I would recommend this way for...

I do recommended that you combine this sightseeing with a walk, as the cliff as sole attraction (depending on how long you had to drive to get there) is not THAT spectacular. For this, stop at a parking about 2 km before you arrive at the site and walk the rest of the way. You are in a relatively remote area so take a few provisions with you :) Good thing to know: everything is free of charge (parking &...
