Six *must visit* mountain huts in the Swiss Alps. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ My first European Alpine hut experience was in 2018 - when catching the gondola up we [triple] checked that we did not need to bring sleeping bags and our own food. The operator laughed and when we arrived there was a claw foot bathtub waiting for us in our room. Located half way up a mountain with no vehicle access. That was my gateway drug of sorts. Since then I have stayed in at least a few dozen alpine huts across the Austrian, French, Italian and (most commonly) Swiss Alps. With three course dinners every night, full bars and, when I am extra lucky, expresso machines. The Europeans know a thing or two about alpine lodging. And while I slowly chip away at the 1,000+ huts in Europe… these are my current Swiss top six. Ein erholsamer Zwischenstopp der schönsten Art auf der SAC Sidelenhütte. Nach einen wunderschönen aber kräfteraubenden Zustieg von Andermatt über den Nepali Highway - kommt eine Älplermagronen, Kaffee Zwetgschgen in dieser luftigen Höhe als Oase der Bergwelt an.

Very lively and well organised cabin on the way to the Rhone-Gletscher. We spend one night there and really enjoyed the food and gathering. Only downside is that the toilets are quite far away from the chalet to...

Darf leider gesamthaft nur einen Stern geben. Grund: Verweigerung zu veganer Bewirtung. Dabei hätte man beim Salat einfach die Sauce weglassen können für einen solchen Wunsch. Auch beim Hauptgang wäre es simpel gewesen. Ich erwarte ja nicht viel aber einfach zu sagen "geht nicht" ist ein absolutes No-Go! Die Verweigerung ist nicht zeitgemäss, wir sind im Jahr 2022 und es ist hinlänglich bekannt, dass der Konsum und Fleisch- und Milchprodukten ein Problem für die Umweltbelastung und Nachhaltigkeit...
