Discovering the Perfect Day Out in Valais!!!
My recent visit to Marecottes Zoo left me thoroughly impressed and eager to share my experience. It was an unexpected delight to stumble upon such a gem of a destination for a day out with family and friends.
From the moment I stepped foot in the zoo, it was evident that the animals were well taken care of and content in their habitats and being able to feed some of them made the experience even more memorable. As the summer heat approaches there is a huge swimming pool it’s a fantastic addition to this place allowing visitors to cool off while surrounded by the beauty of Nature.
But what truly made our day was the cheerful and casual demeanour of the staff. Their warmth and approachability made me feel right at home, adding to the overall comfort and enjoyment of the visit. It's the kind of place you want to return to again and again—a true go-to destination for a day of fun and relaxation.
To my surprise, I learned that a hotel is in the works, I can’t wait to try it out for a longer stay next time.
The Marecottes Zoo and its restaurant a place I stumbled upon by chance but I can't wait to return and immerse myself in its charm once again this summer. I highly recommend if you are a...
Read moreDirty and overcrowded pool, disastrous parking - This review is just for the pool. We had visited the pool once 7 years ago, and while the site is still very unique and beautiful, it is clear that management is a concern. For Swiss standards, the water was not clean; dust and dirt were everywhere in park, litter and cigarette buts as well. Trash bins are overflowing. The pool was so overcrowded, people were sitting shoulder to shoulder at edge of pool; on the grass, towels were also on top of each other. With the exception of a small shallow area, the pool is unsafe for children under 4. Great for jumping, but no rules...it feels like an accident could happen at any moment.
Upon arrival, the pool was so busy, we could have probably just walked in without anyone knowing, very disorganized. Teenagers/20 year olds are running the reception/stands. To control numbers, why don't they mark "affluence" on their website, or make it a timed pass, like at many mineral baths? Cars parked in every direction along side of road, no spaces marked. Overall, a great site with lots of potential, but feels like it has become...
Read moreThe zoo is close to a large parking lot, which is quickly full when the weather is nice, as there is also a ski slope nearby.

The zoo is built in a circle and it is a very nice walk. I was able to take a lot of great pictures and seeing the animals in the mountains was unique. I had seen a wolf, a deer and capricorns for the first time. To see the wolf we had to climb up an elevation, which was really difficult due to the snow. I understand that you want to avoid salt here but you could mount a rope to get up and down safely, this would be really practical. ➰🐺
This zoo is really different, even if you have already been to a conventional zoo, this one is definitely...
