Great wide pistes and the opportunity to see the future slalom and downhill downhillers honing their skills on some weekends. Seeing them live and up close and hearing the ragged breathing and crunching of the skis on the slopes shows the limits of viewing this sport on the couch in front of the tv. Slopes are full of powder and it is a long run. The chairlift max capacity is 44 skiers per minute so the queue is never longer than 6-10 minutes at peak times. The Gondola from the parking lot up to the pistes holds a lot of people and is a scenic ride. Day pass 55 CHF per adult including round trip on the Gondola. Half day 44 CHF. Blues are challenging in places so take a slow sighter run first before pushing your comfort zone or chasing your dragon...

Winter season: Well serviced, good variety of runs. Probably too small to stay for a week holiday - ideal for midweek day trip from Zurich every week. Very easy to work all the runs in a half day session, but enough to work on the skills and end the day with some burn in the legs. 2021 season was good, nice snow conditions, plenty of ungroomed stuff between pistes to play on as well. NBC Park was closed more often than open on my visits, but maybe I was unlucky. Weekends were busier as usual, midweek was great. Maybe I'm unlucky with visibility as well, but weather seems to blowover the mountain quite often to put the top in cloud. Website has forecast and webcams to check conditions.

Compact, unpretentious resort less than 1 hr by road from ZH, approx 2 hrs on train/bus. 50km of pistes. Not recommended for absolute first timers, although I skied here on my 2nd day ever on skis 30 years ago and had a great day, despite getting totally lost. Blues can be narrow and/or rather steep - some would be graded red in other resorts. Mainly reds, including a FIS-rated race strecke, so few blacks, but plenty of mogully off-piste and good powder opportunities when the snow god smiles. Surprisingly snow-sure for such a low resort; the micro-climate blesses it with above average snowfall and sunny days, and modern grooming means snow surfaces usually in top condition. Good interconnecting lift infrastructure allows for some glorious long-ish open and tree-lined runs, although the small areas of only blues (great for learners) at picturesque Ibergeregg and Iberiberg are independent of the main arena. Superb choice of food & drink options spread throughout the area; Lauchen & Sternen are my favourites but never found issues with any of the others. Recommend parking at Laucheren if you don't fancy the long black all the way down from Sternen at the end of the day, although multi-storey parking at Weglosen is also free and you can get cable car (which runs until 17h30 at w/e) down from the very good Barghüs restaurant. Busier at weekends obviously, but never found it too busy then; it's really great though if you can a weekday off work and sneak over - enough piste to keep most skiers happy for the day. So yep, great spot to keep your technique up to scratch if you have a free day or two and great too if you want to spend some quality and rewarding time with family and friends winter or...

Hope this helps anyone... im from Michigan, US, and I found it hard to figure out online how to prepare for a day of good snowboarding. So I booked a hotel in nearby Einsiedeln, and drove to Hoch-Ybrig in the morning. I found a spot in the lot, free, the garage is very tight for larger cars. You pay for your lift pass at the lift near the lot. It was 47 swiss francs, this is good for full day for all lifts. They also do a half day pass from 1 - 4. Lifts stop about 4, and last ride down to the lot is 430. The rental shop is just to the left when you get to the shop. 40 to rent board and boots for one day. Quality was pretty good. The hills are amazing, a bit steep like others describe, but it's the alps. If you aren't comfortable on slopes that are a bit steep you won't enjoy, but any intermediate approaching advanced or advanced level skier will love it. Lots of jumps and fun runs. So many places to stop for drinks and food on the hills. I...
