A somewhat isolated part of the Portes du Soleil. Just one ski hire shop and not a lot else. Swells in numbers at the weekend with day visitors. The lift system is quite slow in places with a number of buttons and T bar lifts. The route markings are poor, and unless you have the Swiss version of the map, then v difficult to follow where you are. Whilst you can easily make your way over onto the French side, be careful. Bad weather closes the route back. The ridge is high and open and suffers badly with high winds. We were left stranded with 1 lift to cross, which shut on our approach. With a 6 year old at 3.15 mid winter, we were forced to return to Avoriaz and across the Chavenette area. We were the last to make it through the tunnel. Many were not lucky! Our v first down lift experience in 25 years (down the Swiss Wall!!). I also didn't find the Swiss lift staff very friendly. In France, they are wonderful, happy, and make time to interact, especially with my little girl. They didn't even want to help her onto the lift on the Swiss side! Luckily, by No.3, we are able to do this ourselves, but always feel reassured when she gets help or a high 5 to confirm they know a little one is getting on. Many people rave about this area, but for a number of reasons, I wouldn't return to...
