the scenery was so beautiful and the view was absolutely breathtaking! We got there around 930am on a Saturday and there were quite a few cars there already but we managed to get a lot. There are many different routes that one can take and we opted for a mid tier route that would be suitable for an experienced hiker, a new hiker, a fit and able senior as well as a dog. The first part of the hike was just going up, up and up with an elevation of close to 400 and in about two hours or so , we reached the lake. We started making our way around it and it was a sight to behold
set against a backdrop of mountains, blue skies, greenish blue water and a lush green field with yellow flowers all around. Walking further along, we stopped by Refuge Grammont’s cafe lunch before making our down. We opted for the more scenic route instead and decided to take the trail off the beaten road instead of the using the path. Although it was definitely more challenging, especially for a first time hiker without the proper gear (more in notes below) and having to come face to face with the beauty and harshness of nature (balancing on the edge, having to press close to the cliff and cling on to a metal chain to get to the other end and the occasional passing rain) but it was all worth it! In total, we took about 3 hours (excluding lunch) to complete 8km. Note: I was not prepared for a hike to be in the cards so I was not geared up very well. I did not have the right walking/hiking shoes which made the trail more challenging than usual. I wore running shoes which did not have the appropriate grip strength nor ankle hold for both going off the path as well as trekking up and down the various terrain, rocks, mud, water, tall grass etc. It was definitely a doable hike and it would have been much easier with the right gear but having said that, a decent level of fitness would still be required. All in all, the hike went very well, we had a good leader and it was an adventure, an experience that I would never forget!

The lake is simply amazing. Easy to reach, you can park your car at parking Mieux, Le flon and then walk up for 1.5h. The walk is for everyone, nothing really difficult. Once arrived you’ll enjoy the beautiful view surrounded by nature in a quite environment. If you are brave enough, you can also take a swim in the lake (water is pretty cold). If you plan to go by car, you might be stopped by someone saying that the main parking spot is already full and you need to park somewhere else where then a privare shuttle will bring you to the main parking place that is the starting point for the walk. The cost of the shuttle is 14CHF back and forth. And so we did. Once arrived to the main parking place we realised that indeed there were still a lot of available places. So I would suggest to go and check before deviating for the secondary parking option.

Taney Lake is simply breathtaking! The journey to get there is absolutely worth every step, and taking a dip in the refreshingly cold waters is an invigorating experience. Once you arrive, the beauty of the surroundings captivates you completely; you'll never want to leave! While the walk is manageable, it does require a decent level of fitness due to some uphill and downhill sections. At the top, you'll find a few restaurants and a hotel, providing convenient options for refreshments or an overnight stay. However, parking can be a bit challenging, so it's best to plan accordingly. Overall, Taney Lake is a hidden gem that rewards adventurers with stunning scenery and a sense of being above time and space. I would recommend summer or fall to...
