Fangyuan Wetlands — Attraction in Fangyuan Township

Wetland with a long built up walkway and ample parking. There are beautiful views of the sunset here, as well as crabs and mudskippers if you've got a keen eye. If you are looking to walk around in the mud you'll probably want to go elsewhere, but if you want to take a stroll along the ocean from the comfort of a concrete path this is the place.

Unfortunately, the construction of the walkway has damaged the wetland areas immediately surrounding the walkway, with obvious leftover construction material and trash visible. I hope the local government will use its resources to remediate the walkway environmental damage, which scars the otherwise beautiful wetlands.

Nice place for a walk or jogging, need better maintenance program or execution of it.

Garbage along the entire walk way shows that people are not care their own country or their environment. Very sad.

It can be fairly windy at some sessions, so the warning signs are through out the trail.

There are two parking lot for cars, at the North end entry and middle entry, each can pare about 15 cars. So come early at...

香山濕地是北台灣最大的濕地，面積有1700多公頃，退潮之後，潮間帶寬達兩公里，泥灘地上布滿招潮蟹所挖的洞，其中就住著特有種台灣旱招潮蟹。紅樹林來了，原本的招潮蟹卻不見了。

中興大學生命科學系教授施習德表示，台灣旱招潮蟹的棲地相當獨特，位在比較乾旱的高潮線，空曠沒有遮蔭，以黏土質為主，紅樹林栽植後，灘地變得相當泥濘，不適合牠們生存。關心香山濕地十多年的荒野基金會國際自然教育講師張登凱觀察到，不只台灣旱招潮蟹減少了，以前泥灘地常見的鳥類、魚蝦貝蟹，遇上紅樹林，通通不見了。

位在彰化的芳苑濕地，和香山濕地一樣，退潮後有寬廣的潮間帶，原本沒有紅樹林。彰化環盟前理事長蔡嘉陽說，在中部海岸，泥灘地才是緩衝海浪沖刷最好的天然消波塊。

但是人為種植打破了這道天然界線，芳苑濕地也陷入困境。海茄苳的氣生根阻擋小型水鳥進入覓食，紅樹林也造成底棲環境改變，原有的台灣旱招潮蟹、清白招潮蟹，被紅螯螳臂蟹取代。
