So, this is a great experience you can brag about to your friends...Watching sunrise or the stars in the evening from the comfort of one of the world's only salt water hot springs. However...Come with the right frame of mind. The facilities are basic and in dire need of maintenance. This is not a luxury spa! There is no food available (although we saw what looked like an old cafe on the right as you go in, it didn't look like it was used anymore), so bring food from town (picnic tables provided inside.) Board shorts and bikinis are OK to wear inside, and although you're supposed to have a swim cap, we saw plenty of people without. Lockers are 10ntd, non refundable, or you can pile your stuff into the big laundry baskets and carry it with you. If you bring eggs to boil in the boiling well, you can buy little nets from the front entrance. Also, we bought our tickets from the guest house we stayed in, and got a little discount (190ntd per person, instead of 200 at the entrance) Also worth noting is that the pools in the rocks right by the sea that you see on all the blogs/tourist information about visiting Ludao are now closed due to too...
Read moreWe had quite high expectations but ended up quite disappointed. Visited in the end of December after sunset. We paid the full price of 200NT/person but most of the hot spring was not functional. The most beautiful and well-known pools next to sea were closed because of “big waves”, however the waves did not even get close to the pools. Of the other pools 2 were completely empty, two were very cold, 2 were warm but not enough to stay there for longer time, the inside one was quite warm and the middle one was the only one that was actually really hot. If we would know before entering, we would probably not go, but nobody speaks any English there. The showers and changing rooms are disgusting, mold, rust, spiderwebs, falling apart. The lockers don’t function. Pools are also falling apart, missing tiles on several places. We bought 5 eggs for 50NT to boil in the spring nearby, that was cool. However, do not go there without shoes, there is quite lot of broken glass on the way. Overall, we expected way more, as the price is 5x higher than for example in Beitou and it is such a “must see” in...
Read moreWe had an overall unpleasant experience. We came around the time it opens (5pm in winter ) but it seemed crowded, and due to Covid we decided to come back later when there would be less kids. We arrived again around 10pm, expecting to have an hour (perfect for us), since it is advertised that they close at 11. AFTER we had paid they informed us that the pipe was broken for hot showers. It was a bit cold so not being able to clean off with hot water after was very disappointing. Then, around 10:20 they already started yelling at us to get ready to leave. If they wanted to close at 10:30, they should have informed us (and about the hot water) before we paid. Like, asked if we still wanted to do it if we only have less than 30 minutes at that point to enjoy the hotspring. They were not very polite or kind about their tone and manner. Most of the pools were closed also due to it being low season and there are as a general dirtiness. Would definitely...
