I have been here twice. First time the weather was not good and it was very windy and cold. There were several booths near the parking lot selling some local foods including the BBQ sausage, black tea beverage, vegs, marble eggs and etc. The strong wind almost blew away my hat so I had to hold it all the time on the way from the parking lot to the center of the this place to see the surrounding sceneries. We did not stay there for a long time as it was too cold/windy then. 2nd time I went there together with my family and it’s about 3pm. The big parking lot was about 70% full so it was easy to find a parking space. This time the weather was much better even though it’s very hot and humid (in Aug) but luckily we had the breeze to cool us a little bit down. There were no trees and with just a few artificial constructions above the ground (wind turbine, fortifier…) so just had a few shades. If you are afraid of the sunlight, better have some protection measures in place otherwise you might get the sun burn. At the center area of this site, there is an iconic wind turbine located in the middle, creating an unique vibe to this tourist spot. The wind turbine is in operation but it seems it has been running for a long time as I could see the rusty metallic pole standing there and probably it should be re-painted on a more regular basis. This site is located on top of a small hill. The altitude of this place is not high but it’s good enough to have a nice viewing point. It’s an open area providing a ~300 degree surrounding view to see the waters, beach, railroad, mountains and hills. There is a white painted stairs leading to another side of this attraction site and it looks like a good place to have a walk to immense yourself in the environment and see the surrounding beautiful scenery. The view is good and there are more and more wind turbines being installed in the offshore Taiwan straits. In a nutshell, this is a good place for taking some nice photos. If you don’t take the stairs, probably 30 minutes of time is enough before hitting the road to go to the nearby...
Read moreHey, this wasn’t located in South Africa but in Houlong, Miaoli, Taiwan. Here, we viewed the scenery as though from a bird’s eye view. Windmills were constructed on land and also right out to the sea. Spectacular view from atop the viewing deck! It left a beautiful impression to me as compared to Gaomei.
Saw a railway track below which looked like it encircled the whole area. Waited for the train to pass by but when we were afar from the deck, it arrived. If not, it really looked like a miniature wonderland of Hamburg, Germany.
Weather was hot that day, visitors took shelter and had picnics beneath the viewing deck. Strange trees were bent in a different direction, likely due to the year-in-year-out strong winds.
The opened carpark was very huge. Big tourist buses arrived with many local tourists.
Special mention was the washrooms near the carpark. Very big and very clean. There was also a family washroom. These washrooms were gated from a specific time at night. There were some old women selling snacks near the carpark.
Wished I could have more time to walk down the stairs and explore the area further. If opportunity comes I would make another comeback to appreciate this...
Read moreThis is a nice spot which has some “old” battery stations and some power generation windmills plus gorgeous ocean views. It’s weekend, so quite a lot of tourists showed up. Otherwise, it would be even nicer. We came here to watch the sunset and enjoyed it very much. The reflection of sun on the ocean water creating a fabulous sunset view. We probably will come here again to watch the sunrise during...
