Moderate short hike (30 min) on safe sturdy stone steps with steel handrails so it’s safe for the whole family including little kids. Lots of seating areas for elderly who may need breaks. There are actually three levels of waterfalls and the third/last one is the biggest and most grand (almost like two falls layered in each other) with a few benches and large patio to rest for a bit (I imagine can be crowded and noisy on weekends and holidays though). Note there is a much longer hike that starts from the Catholic Church and takes 5-6 hours round trip. Parking lot is NT50 for cars and has path to either of these trails, which are connected. There are also street parking along the main path or when you turn right away from the parking lot. Bathrooms are clean and available at scenic entrance to falls (also some food stalls there) and church (has two water machines) and...

It seemed from the notices posted that this is just a temporary closure, but there was no mention of when it would be open again. You can still walk up to the shrine, and there are some nice distant views of two of the waterfalls along the trail to the shrine. That walk is quite beautiful, so it's still worth a visit.
We took a cab from the train station for about 150 Taiwanese dollars. We walked back to town, which took about 40 minutes. The road was not too busy on a Saturday morning in winter, and there is a fully separated pedestrian path after about 15 minutes of walking (not shown on Google Maps) that takes you the rest of the...
Read moreThis is one of the best waterfalls I have been to in Taiwan. One of the first places I was able to put my feet in the running water and just relax. There were some small fish that had a go at my feet, so also a form of spa treatment at the same time. Going through the hiking trail and snapping some photos will take you no more than an hour total. There is a shuttle bus stop about 500m away from the waterfall, so getting to this area is very easy and not that expensive. A truly must see place when visiting...
