Visited on March, its not yet the peak moment to see the butterfly. But still this place is such a beautiful place to visit and explore. The place is quite far from Kaohsiung since its in the neighborhood and more closer with Pingtung County. Not many public bus transportation option to or from here, so its better you to plan it very accordingly and not miss any bus schedule.

茂林賞蝶步道 可以說是第一次到訪 生態公園，有著蝴蝶的入口意象 從一開始在步道的入口 就有一大群紫斑蝶在花叢間 好像在跳著迎賓舞一樣 翩翩飛舞 歡迎來到茂林的朋友 往上走會看到一家風味餐廳 芭特芙萊 我想是由蝴蝶的英文直接翻中文 在入口處分兩條步道 前往不同的地點 分別是瑪雅亭和紫蝶亭 沿路設有幾處的石板椅供遊客歇息 往紫蝶亭步道較短蝴蝶較少 在涼亭的左後方有難得見到的黃竹 實際正確的名字有待確認 往瑪雅亭步道較長蝴蝶依比例來說不算多 階地是水泥砌磚層疊而成的階梯步道 沿路往下看是濁口溪和茂林部落 在瑪雅亭旁則可遠望風景區的入口高架道路和屏東平原（高樹鄉） 一路往上到賞蝶步道時（由高點往下走） 眼前的景象讓人眼睛為之一亮 哇，數以萬計的蝴蝶就圍繞在身邊飛舞 有些則很認真的在用餐，吸食著花蜜 完全不怕生，就算人靠近也不會急著飛走 多到數不清，大都份都是紫斑蝶 有小紫斑蝶.斯氏紫斑蝶.圓翅紫斑蝶.端紫斑蝶.黑脈樺斑蝶.琉球青斑蝶等，好多品種的蝴蝶一起在開舞會 在下方有一個姿沙里沙里步道的入口意象，但我不曉得是指那一段 在茂林附近的山區幸運時，還可以看到台灣藍鵲.大彎嘴畫眉鳥等台灣稀有鳥類 高屏地區或是全省各地的朋友 有機會可以到茂林來接近大自然 和紫斑蝶有近距離的接觸 風景區內還有羅木斯步道和小長城木棧步道等運動休閒的好地方 值得安排來一趟這樣清靜的旅程

Thousands and thousands of beautiful purple butterflies. A spectacular natural phenomenon in gorgeous mountains. Stay a while and catch a glimpse of huge birds of prey soaring overhead or hike to the pagoda and enjoy the view of the valley below. Explore these parts beyond the trail and you will be thoroughly rewarded. Great experiences to be bad...

Take the path to the Maya pavilion (it’s steep) and then enjoy the longer trail down. It’s all well-signposted. More peaceful, the higher up you go (less people). Enjoy the great views. You can see the butterflies around...
