If I am comparing this park and the performing Art theater structure with any of the American equivalent venue, I wouldve tagged it at 2 stars. But of course, this is in Taiwan, it deserves a 4 star in a crowded and open-land scarce city. Most of the parks in Taiwan except those are listed as (national) natural parks has one feature in common, i.e., not enough plants and lots of bare ground with dead weeds. If you run into a patch of nice groomed lawn in a park, often you would see a "Do not step onto the grass" sign posted. And the huge white structure has been sitting quietly near the roadside for years. It hasn't made any mark as an important Performing Art center as other centers did elsewhere in the world. It's only a modern designed building for people to walk around. I'm sure that if you see a piture of a white and sail-shaped shells as the roof structure you know instantly its the Australian Sydney Opera House and it regularly hosts world class operas, sympathy concerts and more. You may even know who has performed there once. There aren't many parkland in the city of Kaohsiung. The total sizes of parklands in this city compared to the size of the city is small. Probably, less than 8% of the land is park for the local residents. The average total sizes of parkland in a US city is above 26%, which means if the size of city land is 100,000 acres, at least 26,000 acres of them is parkland. Or every 66.6 residents has one acre of parkland to enjoy. Even in the city of Shenzhen, China, it has over 21% of parkland. Therefore, this Wewuying and its land is a peril in the city, it definitely should be a better place for the locals and the out-of-towners to enjoy more than just the weekends...
