Shaxi Fort, located at the westernmost point of Lieyu Township (Little Kinmen) in Taiwan, was constructed in 1971 as a military installation. During its operational period, the fort housed 50 machine guns and featured trench systems for combat personnel.

Today, Shaxi Fort stands as a historical site, offering visitors a glimpse into Taiwan’s military past. The fort’s strategic location provides panoramic views of the surrounding area, including the Dadan and Erdan islets, Binlang islet, and the city skyline of Xiamen across the Taiwan Strait.

Exploring the fort allows visitors to navigate through its narrow tunnels, observe concrete gun emplacements, and experience the unique atmosphere of a former military stronghold. The site is also renowned for its picturesque surroundings, making it a favored spot for photography enthusiasts.

Kinmen, a small group of Taiwanese islands off China's coast, is a place where history and modernity collide. Its past military establishments contrast with the futuristic city of Xiamen just across the water. Once a heavily fortified military zone, Kinmen now embraces modernity and is a popular destination for tourists and business travelers. The preserved structures offer a glimpse into Kinmen's past. The irony of a former site of conflict now peacefully coexisting with a city representing the future makes Kinmen a unique and fascinating...

Located on the headland outside Qingqi Village, Shaxi Fort is mainly composed of a mixture of granite gneiss and gran ite. Viewed from the angle of Nanshan tou, it looks like a bird's beak, so it is also called "Phoenix's Beak". Shaxi Fort has a special location, overlooking Da Da, Erdan, Penang and Xiamen. It shoul ders important military responsibilities. Like various military strongholds in Kinmen, the camp area is full of bunkers, ammunition depots, and tunnels. With the dismantling of the garrison, after the activation and reconstruction of the camp area, a viewing pavilion was set up in the most western part of Taiwan. Fol lowing the sea breeze to the pavilion, it seemed as if surrounded by the blue ocean at the end of the invisible, and became a photographer. One of the beautiful sights of Kinmen that you never...
