A TTL distillery. The origin of the famous taiwanese whisky OMAR. There is a Omar VIP tasting area, where you can taste a wide variety of Omar whiskies that are not available anywhere else, at a small price of 100NT for 15ml. Varieties include Plum cast, Lychee cast, Orange cast, red wine cast, original bourbon cast, as well as a peaty version. My favourite is the peaty Omar, at 50ppm phenol, which I bought a bottle. The tasting room/bar isn’t the easiest to find (it’s at the back end of the main shop) but staff were helpful so it was never an issue. You can try everything they have, which is a rare delight as, even in Taiwan, it is not easy to come by. I thought the prices were very fair and, though the tasting bar is dingy, I personally loved the feel of the place. You’re also able to purchase most (though not all) of the bottles you can taste which is great because of said availability and distribution. The staffs at the tasting site are extremely friendly and recommended to us a variety of alcohols that are extremely unique and screams out "Taiwan" to me. Omar is the place for some of the most elegant infusion of fruit and tea flavours in alcohol. Unfortunately, we only had limited space so I could only buy a cask fruit barrel whiskey but if I had the space, I would be buying their brandy too.
