[Revisited Feb 2023] Visited on Sunday this time and this place is super crowded LOL looks like this place is a popular leisure attraction for locals =)

A TTL distillery. The origin of the famous taiwanese whisky OMAR. There is a Omar VIP tasting area, where you can taste a wide variety of Omar whiskies that are not available anywhere else, at a small price of 100NT for 15ml. Varieties include Plum cast, Lychee cast, Orange cast, red wine cast, original bourbon cast, as well as a peaty version. My favourite is the peaty Omar, at 50ppm phenol, which I bought a bottle. The barley is imported, and the peated barley is imported specifically from Islay Scotland. Definitely worth a visit if you are...

I never did the tour so I cannot speak to the quality of that, but I did try a lot of different whisky. The tasting room/bar isn’t the easiest to find (it’s at the back end of the main shop) but staff were helpful so it was never an issue. You can try everything they have, which is a rare delight as, even in Taiwan, it is not easy to come by. I thought the prices were very fair and, though the tasting bar is dingy, I personally loved the feel of the place. You’re also able to purchase most (though not all) of the bottles you can taste which is great because of said availability and distribution. As a tourist destination it may not be the best place to go but, as a whisky enthusiast,...

This place is slightly run down, but the quality of the alcohol they have is incredible! The staffs at the tasting site are extremely friendly and recommended to us a variety of alcohols that are extremely unique and screams out "Taiwan" to me. Omar is the place for some of the most elegant infusion of fruit and tea flavours in alcohol. Unfortunately, we only had limited space so I could only buy a cask fruit barrel whiskey but if I had the space, I would be buying their brandy too. If you love whiskey, their new make is top notch; a candy on the tongue for the longest time with a...

Single Malt whiskey Sherry type. Never heard of Taiwanese single malt. Got hold of couple of samples at a Singapore food expo. I must say not bad actually - Spicy - clear taste of wood (not sure but perhaps they are using used casks from Scotland) - could have been smoother (my personal taste opinion) hits the throat a bit rough. Or rather strong - intriguing name OMAR 😀 - should sell well UPDATE: review Omar single malt Bourbon type - distinct taste of bourbon but colour a bit behind - all the right notes. Would taste better with a sweet mix -goes really well with salted snacks
