**Review for Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布)** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布) is a stunning natural attraction that should be on everyone’s must-visit list when in Taiwan. Here’s my detailed review: **Scenic Beauty:** Shifen Waterfall is often referred to as the "Little Niagara of Taiwan," and for good reason. The waterfall’s cascading water creates a magnificent curtain effect, making it a breathtaking sight to behold. The lush greenery surrounding the falls adds to its natural beauty, creating a picturesque and serene environment that’s perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike. **Accessibility and Location:** Located in the Pingxi District, Shifen Waterfall is relatively easy to access. The waterfall is a short walk from Shifen Old Street and the Shifen Railway Station, making it convenient for visitors traveling by train. The path to the waterfall is well-maintained, with clear signage and safe walkways, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit. **Facilities and Amenities:** The area around Shifen Waterfall is well-equipped with visitor amenities. There are viewing platforms that offer excellent vantage points for taking in the waterfall’s beauty and capturing stunning photos. Additionally, there are clean restrooms, seating areas, and small shops selling snacks and souvenirs, making the visit more convenient and enjoyable. **Experience and Atmosphere:** The atmosphere at Shifen Waterfall is tranquil and refreshing. The sound of the water cascading down and the cool mist in the air provide a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The surrounding forested area is ideal for a peaceful walk, and there are several trails and viewing spots where you can immerse yourself in nature. **Educational Value:** Informative signs around the waterfall provide interesting facts about the geological formation of the falls and the local ecosystem. These educational elements add to the overall experience, making it a great place to learn about Taiwan’s natural environment and geological history. **Crowd Management:** While Shifen Waterfall is a popular tourist destination, the area is spacious enough to accommodate visitors comfortably. Weekdays and early mornings are less crowded, offering a more serene experience. Even during busier times, the well-organized paths and viewing areas ensure that everyone can enjoy the falls without feeling too cramped. **Overall Experience:** My visit to Shifen Waterfall was an unforgettable experience. The combination of its breathtaking beauty, ease of access, and well-maintained facilities makes it a top destination in Taiwan. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a photographer, or simply looking for a peaceful escape from the city, Shifen Waterfall offers a perfect blend of natural splendor and relaxation. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Taiwan!

Nestled in the lush landscapes of Taiwan, Shifen Waterfall stands as a breathtaking testament to nature's artistry. My visit to this magnificent site was nothing short of magical, with the waterfall's pristine waters cascading gracefully into the pool below, creating a serene ambiance that soothes the soul. Despite its growing popularity among travelers, Shifen Waterfall retains a sense of tranquility, unspoiled by the hustle and bustle typical of tourist hotspots. The area around the waterfall is well-maintained, allowing for an immersive experience in nature without the crowds often found at similar attractions. Adjacent to the waterfall, a charming array of shops offers a delightful culinary journey, with mouthwatering options ranging from succulent grilled meats to fresh, juicy fruits. These local eateries provide a perfect pit stop to refuel and savor the flavors of Taiwan, enhancing the overall experience of the visit. Photography enthusiasts and social media aficionados will find themselves in paradise, as the waterfall and its surroundings offer countless spots for capturing stunning shots. Whether it's the majestic fall itself, the verdant landscapes, or the quaint shops, every corner presents an opportunity for a picture-perfect moment. In conclusion, Shifen Waterfall is a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty, culinary delights, and photographic treasures. Its ability to maintain a peaceful atmosphere amidst its growing popularity is commendable, making it a cherished destination for both locals and travelers alike.

Beautiful grand waterfall and a lovely walk towards it. No entrance fee, just a bit of a walk and climb to get there. We took a private driver to bring us to this location (from Yin Yang Sea, Golden Waterfall, Jiufen, Houtong Cat Village) which is definitely cheaper and more convenient (NT$4,500 for 8 hours including hotel pick up and drop off). Lovely guy, if anyone is interested here is his contact details reachable via WhatsApp Hu Chi-Wei (Mickey) +886903140727. Firstly, you would need to cross a large bridge and walk for a short bit before reaching a small waterfall in which you would need to climb some stairs and cross a smaller bridge. A few meters after, you will pass by several vendors selling food, fruits, souvenirs, etc before reaching the end where you will find the grand and beautiful Shifen Waterfall. There was quite a crowd around but there are several spots to take beautiful photos of the waterfall (eg. Take the stairs up the building). It was drizzling a bit but even if it isn’t, highly recommended to bring a small umbrella because the waterfall splashes (sold everywhere in Taiwan anyway). It was a very calming view even the walk there was amazing filled with nature. Got to see a few birds, butterflies, etc. You also get to see the lanterns in the sky from the Shifen Village. Though there were remnants of the lanterns everywhere around the area.

Firstly this place is very near Shifen’s old street. We arrived here right before the tourist center open and we could feel the excruciating heat in the morning. However, the kids were so excited to finally see the waterfall. They have been staying at home for the past 3 months due to level 3 implemented in Taipei. There are many parking lots available here. If you plan to park more than 3 hours then I would recommend you get those private parking areas that cost NTD100. If you only plan to stay for a short while then go for the one right in front of the tourist center, NTD40/ hour on weekends and NTD30/ hour on weekdays. The trail to the waterfall was really fun where we got to cross 2 suspension bridge and in between those bridges there is the railway track where we can see the TRA trains zooming by. After about 15-20 minutes walk, you will arrive at a row of shops selling souvenirs and food and the waterfall will be right in front. Splendid view and you can feel the serene surrounding. You are not allowed to have food here so most people will just sit around to enjoy the sound which was rather pleasant. Managed to clock 5000 steps for the entire trip which was great.

Our kind driver found a parking spot as close as possible as we were traveling with one elderly and 2 young kids. Still it was at least a 30mins walk from our parking space to get to a platform where we had a good view of the waterfalls down below. These 30mins comprised of walking thru a shaky bridge (there were simply too many ppl crossing the bridge at the same time back and forth which caused the bridge to shake and suay quite badly at times making one feel light footed and giddy!), up and down quite a few flight of tall stairs and thru a smoky bbq shop eating area, souvenir shops, as well as on sandy/rocky pavements. There was a temple along the way where ppl have tied many red ribbons on all the trees or stone animals (horses etc) nearby for well wishes i believe. The area around the waterfalls is crowded with many ppl so its simply not possible to take a shot without ppl in the background. Still, it was cooling and refreshing to stand in front of the waterfall to feel the damp and breezy air covering your body, before we had to bear with the long 30mins walk back to our parking space...
