Came here with the family as it was recommended by a tour guide that we hired for a private tour. It is located probably about 20 minutes from Tainan Central.
The place looks a quite run down and was relatively quiet when we visit. There was supposed to be various attractions in the centre (bumper boats, ATV rides, salt processing etc) but nothing seems to be operating. There was a train ride which cost NT50 per person that goes around the centre so we took it as we had 2 small kids with us. Staff operating the ride was not too friendly and had no smile or passion doing what he does. We also did the little climb up a salt mountain and visited the souvenir shop but nothing really too interesting. There are also all these random statues around the centre for you to take photos with.
There is not much explanations or information in the centre too so we were only there for under an hour and was on our way again.
Only thing good is the visit didnt cost much. I think you need to pay NT70 for a car to enter and there was the cost of the train ride and that's about it.
Only visit if you are in the area as I don't think it's worth travelling all the way there just for this...
Read moreA visit to Qigu Salt Mountain requires an admission fee: NT$100 for cars, NT$50 for scooters, NT$50 for bicycles, and NT$50 for pedestrians. The area is quite vast, and the parking lot is equally massive. From old photos on display, it's clear the salt mountain was once considerably higher; currently, the accessible height is limited, and reaching the very top isn't allowed.
Surrounding the main salt mountain, you'll find an outdoor salt-drying experience, an indoor dining area, and a DIY workshop zone. There are also outdoor vendor tents selling refreshments. Further back, there are some recreational areas, though I didn't get to explore them all due to the heat. It distinctly feels like a place cherished by older generations. While the effort to revitalize the park is evident, it seems more work might be needed to fully realize...
