I recently visited the Sanmin Bat Cave that left me with mixed feelings. The cave itself was impressive, with stunning geological features that were truly awe-inspiring. However, my experience was dampened by a few factors that made the trip less than perfect.
Firstly, parking near the entrance was limited to just 10 spots, which meant that finding a spot was a real challenge. Additionally, the fee for parking was taken by an elderly man in a yellow vest, which was a bit confusing at first. However, the fee was reasonable at 100 NT for the entire stay. When I retuneded later in the day the parking attendant was not easily found and there were plenty of open spaces.
One major drawback of the cave was the absence of bats. This was likely due to excessive tourism, which disrupted the local ecology. As a result, the cave felt a bit lifeless and lacked the natural ambiance that I had been hoping for.
On the other hand, the accessible parts of the cave were still enchanting, especially for children and Instagram influencers. A steady stream of water sprinkled from the top of the cave to the viewing platform, creating a picturesque and serene atmosphere.
One downside to visiting this attraction was the crowds. Especially on public holidays, the place was teeming with visitors, which made it hard to fully appreciate the cave's beauty. If you do decide to visit, be prepared to face a lot of people and take your time to navigate through the crowds.
Overall, while the cave itself was impressive, the other factors detracted from the experience. If you're a fan of geological wonders or looking for a fun day out with your family, this attraction may be worth checking out. However, be prepared for the limited parking, absence of bats,...
Read moreThis place is super beautiful. You technically can't swim, but no one will complain if you take a quick dip in the water though, many people do. The photos you can capture here are going to be great! There is parking at the entrance for cars (at a fee), or you could park your scooter for free in the road leading to...
