A nice get-a-way, located high in the mountains and right next to a forest reserve where you can check out a couple gorgeous waterfalls.
The resort is open all year long. Come during the changing seasons, mid summer or even during the winter when there is snow.
Large report with ample amount of room to accommodate large sizes of tour groups. This place seems to be for tourist groups, actually.
Karaoke bars available. There’s a mini gym in the lobby alongside tons of seating in the open space.
Rooms are a decent size. I give this place 5-stars because I had no issues here. Probably rated a 3-star hotel. Soap, toothbrushes, slippers, shampoo, body soap and a tea station provided in each room. There is also free hot/warm/cold water dispensers on each floor.
Wheel chair accessible. Ground floor has a game room with a variety of UFO-catchers and rides for children.
Breakfast and dinner food is pretty good. Nice variety of pork buns (bao) porridge, noodles, toast, boiled eggs, salad, yogurt, and coffee/tea/juices.
There is a store across the resort that sells gift goodies and other goodies like beer...
Read moreI think it has been over ten years since the last time I visited, things changes a lot, it is just like a total new tourist attraction to me, barely do I remember anything about this place from my last visit, or maybe is because it changes a lot since my last visit. If I have to mention something about this place, I would say the waterfalls and the flowers, according the the map, there are three waterfalls here, I’ve went to the farthest one, almost 5 kilometers single trip walk from the parking lot while it says around 3.5 kilometers on the map, there must be something wrong with the numbers printed on the map and the signs. In the middle of the walk, there’s a flora exhibition center, thousands of flowers are planted inside, various of colors, and it is the place where I have my lunch, in my opinion, the lunch sold at the flora exhibition center is the best in this place. And for the waterfall, it is the dry spell the day I went in January, so it is not that stunning as printed on the brochure, but still, this place is worth visiting since there’s still some water running and the flowers...
Read moreThe best plan is a two-day, one-night stay at the Shanlinxi (Sun Link Sea) Forest Recreation Area. Staying overnight in the park waives both the entrance and parking fees, saving you about NT$450 per person. Coming from Taichung takes nearly two hours, and the road often has slow cars and long convoys. On weekdays, the lowest room rate starts from NT$2,870. Dinner is served buffet-style at the Shanlinxi Grand Hotel (NT$450 per adult). The dishes cater more to a senior (around 60 years old) palate, with both meat and vegetarian options. While the selection is a bit plain, the spacious venue has plenty of seating and reasonably priced drinks. The shuttle from the outer Red Pavilion area to the innermost Songlong Rock Waterfall takes about 6 minutes, with departures every 20 minutes (last bus at 5:30 PM). Walking takes nearly an hour, depending on your stamina. The shuttle is convenient, though there’s often a queue to...
