The centre was built in the 1950s under the leadership of Urukhojaev, the head of the collective farm. Urukhojaev was a significant Tajik who sat on Soviet committees and was well known in the area around Khujand and in Tajikistan generally.

The building had particular significance in 1992, when it was the site for the meeting of the Tajik Soviet which officially declared independence from the Sovet Union. It was the site where the 🇹🇯  was chosen.

More recently, in the late 1990s it was also the site where peace conferences following the Tajik civil war were held. In particular, Tajik President  first came to prominence speaking at the Palace, and it was the site for a "plov of peace" which celebrated successful negotiations towards an agreed end to the...

В Таджикистане одно из достижений архитектурной мысли XX века - дворец Арбоб. Его построили простые земледельцы. Руководил работами дважды Герой Социалистического труда Саидхуджа Урунходжаев. Дворец возвели на холме Арбоб, отсюда и название комплекса. Строили его 7 лет всем миром жители трех селений. Художественные работы делали четыре лучших мастера республики на протяжении четырех лет. Стены и потолки здания расписаны яркими узорами. В них угадываются четыре стихии - вода, огонь, воздух и земля. Здесь и мотивы хлопковых полей, пшеницы, винограда и других плодов этой земли. Для отделки внутри помещений мастера применили резной ганч. Все 8 малых и один большой залы украшены национальными орнаментами. В одном из залов дворца хранятся экспонаты из рабочего кабинета и фотографии председателя колхоза. Его чапан, белая рубашка, тюбетейка. Здесь же выставлены фотоснимки Урунходжаева и с дехканами, и с космонавтами. С ним были знакомы многие известные люди. Во времена Урунходжаева дехкане из его хозяйства были удостоены высоких званий Героев Социалистического труда. После распада Советского Союза Таджикистан пережил гражданскую войну. В то время, когда ситуация в республике была очень сложной, судьба народа решилась в этом дворце. Именно здесь был продемонстрирован эскиз флага независимой республики. Здесь принимались судьбоносные решения. Сегодня многие молодожены в день свадьбы приезжают к памятнику Урунходжаеву и возлагают сюда цветы. Их земляк немалую часть жизни провел в этом дворце и похоронен рядом с ним. Дворец "Арбоб" за рубежом больше известный, как "Урунходжаева", хотя и постарел, но поражает своим размахом. Десятки колонн, люстр, около ста комнат и около двухсот окон, изысканная внутренняя отделка потолков. И все это построено методом «хашара», людьми, которые за свой труд получали несколько килограммов пшеницы, хотя на его возведение колхоз имени Ворошилова, которым руководил Саидходжа Урунходжаев, потратил более $1 млн. Во дворец Арбоб ведет длинная аллея, украшенная девятью фонтанами в виде тюльпанов. Затем вас "встречает" памятник Ленина с кепкой сжатой в руке.
