It has been a spectacular place for herpetology studies and Tourism. Meserani Snake Park, conveniently located about 25 kilometers west of Arusha, offers a surprisingly multifaceted experience beyond its impressive collection of East and Southern African reptiles. The park showcases a diverse array of snakes, including formidable species like the black mamba and puff adder, housed in well-maintained enclosures, with engaging guided tours providing educational insights into their biology and behavior. A memorable highlight for many visitors is the chance to safely handle a non-venomous snake, while observing crocodile feeding sessions adds to the thrill. Beyond the reptilian displays, Meserani provides a profound cultural immersion into Maasai life, featuring a cultural museum with traditional huts and artifacts, where Maasai warriors share their customs and stories. The park also offers unique activities like camel rides and, most commendably, operates a free medical clinic and education center for the local Maasai community, meaning that visitor entrance fees directly contribute to these vital social initiatives. With an on-site bar and campsite also available, Meserani Snake Park offers an educational, interactive, and culturally enriching stop that's well worth a visit for anyone traveling through the...
Read moreVery "interesting" place to stay - Definitely a fitting name for how they treat customers - LIKE SNAKES! This is the worst place ever. Please do not stay here or visit here.
I stayed here as part of a G Adventures Tour, and unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 at 10PM one night.
The next morning as I was packing and ready to leave, the owner of Meserani Snake Park walked up to my window and peeked through the window while I was changing.
When I opened the door for her, she said "Are you ready to leave? You should've left last night when you tested positive. You have put this place in danger and put my business in danger."
I then asked her- "What do you mean I should've left? Where should I have gone to?"
She said - "to a hotel"
I responded "are you out of your mind? is this place not a hotel?"
She then started calling me rude, selfish and "not a happy person" (yeah, of course I wasn't a happy.. I was sick and the hotel owner felt right to toss me onto the street lol).
So overall - if you are healthy and can buy things this place likes your money. But, at the first moment of sickness you become no use to the...

Guide was very friendly and intelligent. He explained many things about snakes' behaviors and all differences between them. After snake park we went to Masai Museum which has village installations which help you to get ideas how masai tribes lived. Guide's origin is masai and he can answer all questions you are interested in. After excursion we were also offered to wear ceremonial masai clothes and it was really cool. Thank you guys!
