A day away from the busy Dar es Salaam. Boat leaves at Shipway Complex. Get there in time to secure your seat in the boat. Boats depart at 9.30 and 11.00am but the way back is confusing (said to be at 15.00 but leaves earlier, so watch the other tourists and get ready for an immediate departure). Food and drink are available for reasonable prices. Do not worry when seeing some people arriving with loads of water as it they were leaving for the desert. Try to squeeze time for a walk in the forest. Very clean and maintained beach with limited place so you'd better take the first boat at 9.30.

Peace and quiet is what you find at this island and a nice beach. Not like Mbudja the Island a little further out. There you will find clearer water but a lot of people and loud music alkohol and more. At Bongoyo you can take a walk to sharkbay, feed the big monitor lizards behind the kitchen our just realax and swim inte the ocean. If you are lucky one of the python will be out of the bush. But hardly nobody see this shy harmless snakes.

Mid-October. Few tourists. Nice day. There is a lot of garbage on the shore and in the sea, dry vegetation. No cleaning. While swimming there is a lot of garbage from algae, you think that you are swimming in soup. There is nothing interesting. Dangerous boat for transfer. Once is enough.

41.000 Tsh entry fee for foreigners just for the island is too high. Locals only pay 9.000. We decided not to go at all as we don't want to support this. It's crazy if you are travelling as a family or a larger group of people. Then another 30.000 per person for the boat. The food there is expensive as well. No thanks. Tanzanian government should...
