Day 1 of 6 Machame "Whiskey" Route. Hundreds of porters and guides finalizing details and getting bags weighed. There are bathrooms and plenty of seating areas. There is a small store to buy last minute gear or snacks. Most guides give out boxed lunches at this point so you'll see everyone munching together. The wait time can be long depending on how many people are starting that day (1.20 hours for my solo group). They have shops here where you can buy any gear you might have forgotten. If you're going on an expedition, the registration takes a while, give yourself about 2 hours, especially during peak season. Also they check weights of all porters bags, make sure to pack within the 16kg limit, otherwise they may ask you to remove some items from your bag- quite strict on this.
