A nice place for tourism and fitness oriented exposures. There are water bodies for recreation and navigation purposes. The routers are well covered by trees to provide shield against sun as well there are attractive bamboo trees to some areas for photographing. Special places are designed for eating and resting after long walk and you'll have caring tour guides all along your walk to direct and explain different natural and historical places available. There is a highest elevation point where one can have a great view of Dar es salaam and as well there is artificial platform created to support wider ange of viewing the city. The entrance fees are very affordable compared to the level of excitement you should expect. There some places namely mzimuni and there far point shimo la popo where you'll find the really meaning of natural geographical features along this route. There is Mnaki tree which is the reason behind the name Minaki you'll get a chance to see it. I don't reccomend the route for expecting mothers and disabled people as the route is not user friendly for wheel chairs and has some challenges which require general body fitness. Although there are some areas where these group can reach but not a whole route, although your guides directives will be top most instructions to follow. I suggest a group starting from 5 people will be better than walking alone, and with this route you'll meet different people around who are tourists both local and foreign one. Pugu hills forest reserve brings meaning of tourism just at the city of Dar es salaam... come one, come all and enjoy the exploration of the beauty behind tourism just in the city. There is no sleeping option within the reserve but you can find places to sleep in the nearby cities either Pugu kajiungeni or Kisarawe where there are hotels and lodges with wide range of prices that...

Read moreIt is a beautiful forest reserve with great trails for hiking! Go first to the office in Kisarawe, there you can register and pay, then a guide will go with you. Hassan took us and did a great job. Definitely recommendable to go with a guide as we would have never found the beautiful trails he showed us on our own. The trail we went on took us through bamboo forests up to an amazing view point 277 meters above sea level. It certainly wasn’t an easy climb, we needed rope on one stretch to pull ourselves up but the view was definitely worth the sweat! The trail down led us through a jungle like forest. I really enjoyed this part of the hike. Also quite steep parts sometimes so trekking shoes definitely recommended. Beautiful camp site in the bamboo forest where there’s a lot of work being done to improve...
