The forest itself is very nice, and there is opportunity to see the colobus monkeys in the wild.    Read moreExhorbitantly higher fee (24000 TZS) charged to foreigners as such. Paying a little more may be OK, but it is like 12x (!) the ordinary entry price. Fee is charged on a viewpoint up a hill and not at entrance (reportedly marked by old, rusty, half-hidden and barely visible signs on the trail leading there) so hardly a fair chance for visitors to decide whether one considers the viewpoint alone worth the fee. The only good thing I can note is the patience and good temper shown by officers in charge of collecting the unpleasant surprise-fee throughout the ensuing discussion. Maybe more worth the cost for those who have the time to explore further than I could. Horrible fee collection system anyway, should be rethought and made fairer and more transparent for casual visitors and...

Lushoto is an amazing place, and maganba...
