We visited the farm few days ago with a couple of friends. We booked in advance for a cooking class too. We arrived at the farm at 9h30. It was AMAZING !!! First, we were warmly welcoming by Siso and the rest of the team. Then, we stayed with Ridhwan, the cooking chef. He teached us all the steps to cook Pilau with tuna fish. This experience was really funny and interesting even if it was a little bit long (maybe 2 hours), but normal, sometimes cooking takes time.

During the Pilau finished to cook, we went to visit the farm with Khamis. He is very friendly and funny, we learned and laughed a lot. The farm is big and it was really pleasant to walk around. We tasted different fruits and spices. Khamis really takes time to explain and respond to all our questions. The tour takes around 1h30.

At the end of the tour, we ate Pilau with the staff. It was de-li-cious ! It was very satisfying and nice to eat all together. After a plate of fruits and a little photo shoot, we've been to the spice shop and buy a lot of spices for cooking Pilau again and again.

This is really something to do if you come in Zanzibar.

But careful, there is a lot of spice farm around. One of them has a sign very similar to Kidichi Spice farm but it's not the right place if you want to live this experience. I highly...

Fantastic and must do experience when visiting Zanzibar! We asked to do the cooking lesson as well as the spice farm tour, and we were so glad for the experience. We started the tour with a sit down and intro to spices and vegetables used in traditional Zanzibari cooking and we were taught how they prepped their ingredients to make a coconut tuna curry. The two guides were assisted by the family who live nearby (this is the family’s farm in actual fact) and everyone was lovely and friendly. As we were being taught how they made their curry I asked if I could show them how to make a traditional Moroccan dish - zealous - and they were very happy that I offered. We had an exchange of cultural cooking techniques which was amazing and an experience I will always cherish. The spice tour began after we left the food to cook and it took approx 2 hours. The tour was full of knowledge and we learnt so much. After the tour we were given handmade hats, earrings and necklaces made with leaves and flowers, which was lovely. We were then shown artisanal soaps, perfume oil, and other bits that were available to buy. Afterwards we went back to eat our food that we helped to prepare and then finished with a visit to the spice shop...

Fantastic experience and amazing value for money. €15pp for spice tour, lunch and a 'cooking class'.

Booking with Siso was very easy - quick response, communicates well, flexible with times, organised transport on our behalf and this was very reasonably priced too.

The day began with the Cooking class - very informal, largely watched the staff prepare our lunch and briefly helped with the preparation. Lovely to watch the authentic way of cooking - making fresh coconut milk, grinding spices/foods with various size pestle and mortar, cooking over coal.

Spice tour - led by Khamis. Clearly experienced, knowledgeable, fun, relaxed and speaks English very well. Lovely to see the various foods grown on their farm and learn about these. Enjoyed coconut drink on the way.

Lunch was lovely - nothing beats homemade food! Felt very hospitable, cosy, homely. Perfect way to end a lovely day.

Opportunity to buy some items - not pressurised to buy, reasonable prices.

Highly recommend booking with Siso directly for the best price which also means tips to the staff can be given a little...

A great place to visit on your own from Stone Town. We had a tour with Abdul and Mohammed, who showed us various plants that grow in Zanzibar. This is a small farm, so you have a couple of different plants near each other - do not expect rows and rows of the same plant. It's the best way to see different spices and fruits, as the tour is quite thorough and takes around 2 hours. We visited during the spring, which is early for many plants - we saw very young or old ones. They still were great! The fruit and tea treat at the end was also really cool. We took dala dala 511 from nearby Darajani market (not sure if that was still the market. And it went south first, near the hospital). Dala dala was 1000 TSh, entrance to the farm 10 000 TSh, tips not included. The guides were very friendly and did not try to force us to tip, like I read in some reviews of other farms. They did their job really well and earned our thanks :)
