I had the pleasure of visiting the New Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok to witness the One Championship card matches, and it was an incredible experience. The stadium was impressive, with a capacity of over 5,000 people and state-of-the-art facilities. The fights were intense and thrilling, with some of the best fighters in the world showcasing their skills. The main event of the night was between two highly skilled fighters, and the atmosphere in the stadium was electric as they battled it out in the ring. In the end, the results of the One Championship card matches on Saturday, February 25, 2023 were as follows: Main Event: Champion vs. Champion (World Title Bout) - Winner: FABRICIO ANDRADE Co-Main Event: Featherweight Muay Thai world championship - Winner: TAWANCHAI PK. SAENCHAI Women's catchweight submission - Winner: DANIELLE KELLY The New Lumpinee Boxing Stadium provided a fantastic setting for the fights, with great views from every seat and a lively atmosphere that added to the excitement of the matches. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the New Lumpinee Boxing Stadium to witness some of the best fighters in the world battle it out in the ring. With top-notch facilities and exciting matches, it is an experience that any fight fan won't want to miss.
I love One Championship and I like the location of this stadium. However…based on my experience coming here to watch the matches.. Lumpini can still improve so much more. 1. Sometime they allow shenanigans to come in here with loud horns and drums. These people are very disrespectful and ruin the experience for everyone else. Lumpini should control this situation… after all, we all pay money to watch high quality sports. The group of people we encountered was Muay Thai fighters from a mid-profile gym in Pattaya named starting with V letter. They were loud, wild and acted nonsense.. I believe the people they came to cheer for actually all lost because of their distracting noises. 2. Lumpini should collaborate way more with One championship. We came to the place at 6.30am to see Rodtang. We are huge fans. We asked them all where we can go see him, none of them were able to give us accurate answer.. and we missed meeting him despite being there on time. He was located at the back side of the stadium but no one could guide us there. 3. People vape during the fights!! It’s not even legalized to be used here in Thailand… lumpini needs to check more
Visited on a Saturday morning for the 10am fights and regret the early breakfast as the stadium has 3-4 restaurants selling nice street food but we were too full to try. There are also drinks you can buy but you are not allowed to take these bottles into the stadium with you. The ticket price is 800baht for standard seats and double that for ringside. We could sit anywhere apart from ringside and were right by the fighters entrance with elevation that made it easy to see the action. Much preferred to the lower VIP seats where you could mostly see the ring cables. The fights were unexpectedly high intensity with one match resulting in blood drawn and one with an actual knockout. Still the matches that went to a decision were still exciting and the format was very quick so there was no extensive waiting. It makes sense at the matches were televised online live and the production very well done particularly the slick camera work for replays.
The New Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, located in Bangkok, is one of Thailand's most famous Muay Thai venues. The original Lumpinee Stadium was established in 1956, but the new stadium opened in February 2014, replacing the old one. It is situated on Ram Inthra Road, a bit outside the city centre, but it's easily accessible. The stadium is known for hosting top-tier Muay Thai fights, attracting both local and international fighters. Events typically occur on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and the atmosphere is electric, with passionate fans and traditional music adding to the intensity of the bouts. The New Lumpinee Stadium is a must-visit for Muay Thai enthusiasts, offering an authentic experience of Thailand's national sport. Tickets are available in various categories, with ringside seats providing the best view of the action.
Very interesting place, worth visiting. Far away from the city centre so you have to organize a transport. After the fights are finished there are taxis waiting outside however some drivers refuse to use the meters (nothing new in Bangkok). Uber operates here so this is a safe option. Tickets - don't buy tickets outside the stadium - only online or at the ticket office (some guys outside show you some documents that they work at the stadium and they can sell you a ticket... ignore them and go straight to official selling points). I bought the most expensive ones next to the ring... it's good to watch the fights so close but next time I will go with the cheaper options as from the stands you have really good view and lines don't disturb the view as they do when you sit below them.
No, not the best location and locals are very informed of foreigners wanting to check this out. So be aware of scams and others. That being said, I did this during my first trip to Bangkok several years ago. Took a tuk-tuk to the stadium...well the area as I was dropped off and found my own way thru the people and ticket area. Sat next to some other foreigners (as I was in the front row) and enjoyed the organ playing between rounds, the respect of the fighters to one another and the art of fighting, as well as the violent-sometimes slow-fighting. Another glimpse into the history of Thais.
