Truthfully, I was not expecting to be that impressed, but we absolutely loved The Ancient City. Beautiful architecture and equally beautiful gardens. The buildings and sites are recreated, moved and refurbished and some, "creative designed". The details were impressive, including the lavish interiors of the palace buildings. Many of the gardens had winding paths that fully immersed you in the stories of Thai legends and mythologies. We were so glad we arrived early and spent the full day. As far as tips, the first is that the park is huge! Bicycles are included with admission as well as a tram service. Guests can also rent ebikes, and golf carts. One can also drive their own car. I love walking, but this park is way too big to see everything by foot. Even though I am not a confident bike rider, the bikes were great and are able to go down a few paths other vehicles could not. I wish there were more information available and I wished I asked questions about restaurants and shows when we entered. The map had very limited descriptions with only food and drink symbols. I believe the "main" restaurant, The Pavillion, was Hotpot dining. We did find a nice Thai restaurant next to the Ghost museum. The lunch was tasty and fairly priced. There are vendors selling water, shakes and snacks throughout the park and most of the other food options were toward the entrance. We did not see any mention of shows or times, but happened to catch one in progress in the floating market area. It was a simple show that added energy to the area. Very nice. Getting to the park is not the easiest, but worth the time. We took a grab there, but leaving after rush hour the cost was more than double for the 1.3 hour ride we had. We were pleased to see that the park does offer a shuttle van for 25baht pp to the nearest BTS. However, from what I can see, there is no mention of that service on the webpage so I do not know how a visitor would know how to pick it up at the station for arrival. I spent the day wishing I did more research to understand what to expect, but now I know that the information I needed just wasn't available. I hope that the park may add more info to their webpage and maps. I would also love to know what the mountain (near 72) that they are building will be. Disney or Universal has never built a mountain this realistic! Wow! If there were not an opening exposing the active construction inside, we never would have guessed it was not real. Yet. Another reason we will return.
Overall, this was an amazing park and we could enjoy this several times. I feel bad for those who are not able to spend a whole day as there is so much to explore and so many beautiful gardens to...
