We celebrated Loy Krathong and Yi Peng at the lake and had a blast! The parking was perhaps more of an adventure for the people who arrived later; we were able to park our car very close by because we got there early, maybe around four in the afternoon. There were a ton of food vendors with an excellent variety available, and people were selling lanterns and krathongs. They really packed in the people in the area near the lake so we were glad we got there early to establish our little seating area with chairs and a mat to sit on. The professional fireworks show was beautiful, and once everyone began setting off their personal fireworks, it got quite crazy! There are lake-walkways but most are dilapidated. Trash litters the lake. Toilet facilities were locked shut. One man was hunting for fish with a gun. A large gang of loitering men flashed menacing glares to my family as they drove off from the car park. Maybe we had disturbed their private meeting...
