We celebrated Loy Krathong and Yi Peng at the lake and had a blast! The parking was perhaps more of an adventure for the people who arrived later; we were able to park our car very close by because we got there early, maybe around four in the afternoon. There were a ton of food vendors with an excellent variety available, and people were selling lanterns and krathongs. They really packed in the people in the area near the lake so we were glad we got there early to establish our little seating area with chairs and a mat to sit on. The professional fireworks show was beautiful, and once everyone began setting off their personal fireworks, it got quite crazy! The lake was a perfect setting for the celebration, plus watching the lanterns drift over the surrounding hills at twilight was a magical experience.

Loy Krathon festival place. Good alternative to overpriced spots. Prices of lanterns: 40-50 thb. Same as in the city. A lot of people everywhere. Difficult to find a parking spot for a car. No place to sit. 40 minutes one way. 30 minutes to walk around. Overall, I can recommend this place for anyone

You can still come here and light lanterns. Me & my gf arrived last night 5 Nov 2025! It was alot more chill then the main events but still a warming/intimate experience. Line was only 10-15minutes or less. Lanterns are for sale for 50THB!

A pleasant spot with plenty of lotus flowers and a nice view of the nearby hill temple.

There are lake-walkways but most are dilapidated. Trash litters the lake. Toilet facilities were locked shut. One man was hunting for fish with a gun. A large gang of loitering men flashed menacing glares to my family as they drove off from the car park. Maybe we had disturbed their private meeting...

The lake has a lot of potential if more maintenance...

Beautiful area, lots of good fishing. Big Loy Krathong festival here, developed from smaller events now that city of Chiang Mai doesn't allow lanterns. Food, coffee, entertainment, singing all for Loy Krathong 8 to 13 November 2022. Other times it's quiet at the lakes, just fishermen and a temple. Nice sunsets here when it's not smokey season...
