Teen Tok Royal Project Development CenterThe center was established in 1981 by the personal funds of His Majesty the King which covered the building payment for 300,000 baht. The King works towards several goals: Firstly, to promote the distribution of unearned incomes from growing Miang (tea-leaves used for masticatory purposes) Secondly, to improve basic needs and quality of life in collaboration with the involved bodies, thirdly, to support the test, to demonstrate, and to research. Finally, to preserve and to revive natural resources and environment in collaboration with the involved organizations. The center is located in the Mae Ta Krai National Park, Tambon Huay Kaew, Amphoe Mae On, Chiang Mai, covering 17 villages such as Ban Pok, Ban Mae Lai, Ban Mae Ka Pong, Ban Tarn Tong, and Ban Pang Jum Pi etc; in other words, covering 34.65 square meters (21,656 rai) and the centers covers 52.1 rai. Speaking of tourism in the center, it can be divided into several kinds. Firstly, the agricultural tourism provides tourists with a chance to visit Arabika coffee and Miang gardens of which the center promotes the plant. Additionally, the interior area of the center will locate models of growing other plants, for example, winter plants, potted plants (such as Begonia, Orchids, Lipstick, Flamingo flowers, flowerpots, bag flowers, Purple Shamrock) and vanilla, all of which the tourists can visit, taste, buy, and take a photograph anytime they wish as rainbows of plants flourish throughout the year.Another thing is cultural tourism which offers a chance to admire the ways of life, local wisdom, painting ancient Miang, amusement and Thai blessing ceremony in Ban Mae Ka Pong. The final type of tourism is nature tourism which grants tourists an opportunity to visit the view point at Doi Mon Lan in which the forest is dense and thick and full of eaglewood, wild orchids and Wild Himalayan cherry which bears fruit spectacularly in winter. If you would like to visit and stay over in the center, it provides you with 3 houses next to brooks flowing in front the houses. Please contact and book in advance with the center directly by calling 0 5322 8524.

We walked about 2km from our lodge (Tharnthong) to take a look at the royal project development center. The walk was pleasant however we hold umbrella n a stick with us as we heard there’s villagers dog that may bark at strangers n we want to be more careful.

There’s language barrier but Staffs are friendly, Food are average but reasonably priced, it’s not crowded so we enjoyed our girlish chat there. The mango juice is simply awesome ($80b). We walked upstream, Wonderful photo taking spot!

Further up About 200-300meter, we saw an enormous giantic rock (PhaNamlod) n with water gushing through the rock, the therapeutic water sound n it’s magnificent sight n I m marveled n can’t help but to stay a little longer n admire the marvellous...

Lovely area but not a great deal to see. Medium size cafe with plenty of seating all very well shaded. Behind the cafe is a running river with grassed areas to relax on. A small Royal Project dealing with local flora is explained and operated across the road. The surrounding roads are narrow and steep in places. The area is a mecca...

Food is good too and there are many varieties mostly using ingredients and fresh produce from the Royal Project. You can also buy royal project...

We had lunch there on the way back from Mae Kam pong village. We ordered some of the recommended dishes in the first page of the menu and all the food taste great. The seat with the stream view made of some large pieces of wood is spacious and cozy. Wish I could stay here the whole afternoon.
