5-Star Review of Wat Khantha Phueksa (วัดกันธาผึ้งสา) – Mae Kampong Village

Tucked away in the peaceful mountains of Mae Kampong, Wat Khantha Phueksa is a hidden spiritual gem that perfectly complements the village's serene atmosphere. This small but beautiful temple offers a quiet retreat for reflection, surrounded by lush forests and the soothing sounds of nature. The temple's rustic Lanna-style architecture blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings, creating a truly tranquil setting.

What makes this temple special is its authentic, untouched vibe—free from crowds and commercialization. The golden Buddha image inside the main hall radiates peace, while the well-maintained grounds feature colorful flowers and traditional Thai Buddhist motifs. It’s a wonderful place to meditate, take mindful walks, or simply enjoy the calm energy of the mountains.

The temple also provides stunning views of the surrounding valley, especially in the early morning when mist blankets the hills. Visiting at sunrise or sunset adds a magical touch to the experience. The resident monks are friendly and welcoming, often happy to share insights about Buddhism or the local culture if approached respectfully.

Unlike larger, tourist-heavy temples, Wat Khantha Phueksa retains a pure, unhurried charm. There’s no entrance fee, and the lack of crowds makes it ideal for those seeking a deeper connection with Thailand’s spiritual side. The short walk from the village center is scenic and easy, passing by small streams and coffee shops.

For travelers exploring Mae Kampong, this temple is a must-visit for its serenity, natural beauty, and cultural authenticity. Whether you’re a spiritual seeker, a nature lover, or just someone who appreciates quiet moments, Wat Khantha Phueksa delivers a perfect 5-star experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended!

A very interesting Buddha Temple at Mae Kampong Village... There are Buddha Jataka Tales painting, Antique collections and many more interesting things in the Shrines... There is a path to the little stream & water fall at back of the Temples... You can enjoy taking many photos there...

The car Parking space at Temple is the most difficult to find in Me Kampong Village at crowed time...

If you are visit to Mae Kampong Village this Buddha Temple is the 100%...

Wat Khanthaprueksa or Wat Mae Kampong This is an ancient temple that is almost 100 years old. The highlight of the temple that is considered Unseen is the church in the middle of the water, built entirely of golden teak wood, carved and fretwork with intricate patterns, mixed with the shade of large trees, ferns, and moss covering the rocks. There is a cool stream flowing all year round.
