เวียงท่ากาน เป็นเมืองเก่าแก่แห่งหนึ่งในสมัยหริภุญชัย เชื่อว่าเมืองนี้จะเริ่มสร้างขึ้นประมาณพุทธศตวรรษที่ 13 สมัยพระเจ้าอาทิตยราช กษัตริย์ผู้ครองแคว้นหริภุญชัยสืบต่อมาจนถึงสมัยพญาเม็งรายช่วงก่อนสร้างเมืองเชียงใหม่ โบราณสถานที่สำคัญอยู่บริเวณกลางเมืองในเขตโรงเรียน วัดท่ากาน และวัดต้นกอก โบราณวัตถุที่พบได้แก่ พระพุทธรูปหินทราย พระพุทธรูปดินเผา พระพิมพ์จำนวนมาก ไหเคลือบสีน้ำตาลบรรจุกระดูก และเครื่องถ้วยจีนสมัยราชวงศ์หยวน(พ.ศ. 1823-1911) มีลักษณะตัวเมืองล้อมรอบด้วยคูน้ำ – คันดิน รูปสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้า ขนาดกว้างประมาณ 500 เมตร ยาวประมาณ 700 เมตร ปรากฏแนวคูเมือง 1 ชั้น กว้างประมาณ 10-12 เมตร

A good historical area where is related to the old city of Chiang Mai. There is a small museum in the area to demonstrate a possibility of how could this old comunity be during that time until it was left.
