Rating: ★★★★★Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park is truly a hidden treasure in Chiang Rai, and my visit there was nothing short of magical. This park is not just a place, but an experience that deeply immerses you in the rich cultural heritage and history of Northern Thailand. From the moment I stepped into the park, I was captivated by the serene and tranquil atmosphere. The lush greenery and meticulously maintained gardens create a peaceful retreat that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s the perfect place to relax, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of nature. The traditional Lanna architecture is absolutely stunning, with intricate wooden carvings that showcase the incredible craftsmanship of the local artisans. Walking through the park, I felt as though I was stepping back in time, surrounded by the echoes of a culture that has been lovingly preserved and celebrated here. One of the highlights of my visit was the Hall of Opium. This exhibit is both powerful and informative, offering a deep insight into the history of the region’s opium trade and its impact on the local communities. It’s a poignant reminder of the past, presented in a way that is both respectful and educational.Another standout feature is the park's collection of art and artifacts. The displays are thoughtfully curated, and each piece tells a story that adds to the rich tapestry of the Lanna culture. It’s clear that a lot of care and attention has gone into preserving these cultural treasures, and I left with a deep appreciation for the heritage of the region. What really sets Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park apart is the sense of peace and tranquility that permeates the entire space. It’s more than just a place to visit; it’s a sanctuary where you can take a break from the world and connect with something truly special. Whether you’re an art lover, a history buff, or simply someone looking to enjoy a beautiful and serene environment, this park is a must-visit destination in Chiang Rai.I wholeheartedly recommend Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park to anyone visiting the area. It’s a place that will leave a lasting impression and is undoubtedly one of the highlights of my time in...

If you want to have a pure "thainess" experience, this is the place. Secluded location, the trees and careful crafted gardens, takes you to the heart of this unique Thai country that we love.
When you start driving inside the park, seems to be "another park", "another view", another lake, but no... there are two beautiful hall-pavilions, large, one with a permanent gallery and changing exhibitions and another one, with lanna kingdom memorabilia.
Last but not least, you will find a lot of unique spots to take beautiful photos and very detailed information provided by the carers and well trained staff that will provide you with all information needed.
It is a quiet place, slow motion, to enjoy and walk around. Need to spend, if you like art and nature, a couple of hours to visit.
Enjoy it and...

It is an absolutely astonishing park with a beautiful collection of teak wood (the theme of the local exhibition) historical pieces. The entrance is worth much more than 200 baht! I could only stay for about one and a half hour but would have loved to take it in for longer. The entrance was indicated wrongly on the map, I corrected it now. You might get the wrong impression that it's closed if you try to the other 'entrances' that I believe are closed permanently. I was one of the only visitors (hence hidden gem) so you might think it's closed, but staff is around and friendly.
Again: I don't understand why this isn't one of the most visited places in Chiang Rai. Much nicer than the white temple...
