Khlong Lan National Park — Attraction in Kamphaeng Phet Province

My visit on February 2nd, 2025, was a bit of a mixed bag. I camped at the khlong Lan NP campsite, which was quite busy, with cars parked all along the side of the road. This made finding a good spot a bit of a challenge, and if you weren't lucky enough to arrive early, you'd likely have to park further away and carry your gear, which wasn't ideal. I was fortunate enough to snag a spot near the toilets, which was a definite plus. One thing to note for fellow campers: the ground at Khlong Lan is quite hard, so be sure to bring some sturdy tent pegs! The campground itself was fairly basic, and the toilet facilities were just okay, though they did at least provide toilet paper. It seemed the dry season had affected the river, making it quite shallow, and the waterfall, while pretty from a distance, wasn't quite as spectacular as I'd hoped, especially compared to Mae Tia in Op Luang. I did notice some unusual brown bubbles and a few oil stains near the waterfall, which was a little concerning and made me decide against swimming. I'd heard there was a nice viewpoint for autumn foliage, but it required a hike, and I wasn't feeling up to it that day. While the campground itself didn't have a restaurant, there were a few little shops with snacks like grilled chicken and fried fish balls. Luckily, I found some lovely local restaurants just a short drive away, and they were conveniently located on the same road that leads to Mae Wong National Park. While the waterfall was visually appealing, the little bit of pollution I saw did take away from the overall experience. It wasn't quite the trip I was hoping for, but it wasn't...
