Thailand seems to want to make everything a tourist "destination", complete with road signage many kilometers out warning you of and leading you to a location. This fools you into thinking there are so many proven and important or desirable places to see in Thailand. The Phra Ruang Hot Spring is a great example of a place you can tell they've tried to make into a destination—its like a cross between an amusement park and hot spring.
In the end though, it's a not very good hot spring. I had a private "mineral bath" room. First of all, it was not mineral-infused water at all, as you'd expect to come out of the ground and why you visit a hot spring at all, it's just regular water. Second, despite what I was told at the "ticket booth", there was no hot/cold control of any kind. At start, there was cooler water flowing into the tiled tub, cooling off the water that wasn't very hot to begin with. Then that just stopped eventually, leaving me sitting in a slowly draining tub of not hot-enough water for my remaining 45 minutes.
