HORRIBLE experience! No idea why this place has really great ratings?!?!
First off, there are NO WORKING BATHROOMS. None of the toilets flush and literally all of them had piles of human feces sitting in the bowls. One of the toilets was completely taken apart and literal pieces were coming out & not connected to anything.... Obviously no toilet paper or soap either. Absolutely disgusting.
Secondly, both the water and the beach were oversaturated with people (tourists). It brought a new meaning to the phrase "packed like sardines". You couldn't even enjoy the snorkeling because there were just too many people everywhere.
Regarding snorkeling, it was mid at best. The fish were extremely aggressive and I was bit multiple times even though I was peacefully & quietly floating in the water above them. The fish and reef weren't a spectacle either; pretty disappointing to look at honestly. Tip: Go to Hawaii if you want an actual snorkeling adventure.
Additionally, the beach itself (along with a few meters of sand into the ocean) is full of small stones, shell pieces, and fragments of coral. Definitely bring some kind of water shoe or sand shoe to wear at all times.
Overall, my experience at Bamboo Island was a negative one. I highly recommend that you AVOID this place and spend your time elsewhere (where you will actually enjoy). I am certain I will never...
