The place itself is nice. Very clear and fresh smelling water and warm like a heated pool. Not hot so I would call it a warm spring. I couldn't figure out where the water came from. I guess from under the there placed stones. If you want to follow the water that runs from the spring downhill its not really possible and unfortunately the toiletwater drops into the same stream just after the warm spring.
That being said, you pay at a checkpoint 2.8km before the spring. They decided last week or so to double the entrance fee from 200 bath to 400 baht now for foreigners!! A complete scam if you ask me. I wouldnt perse say it is not worth the money but for thai definitions it is definitely way and really way to much if you compare it with a cheap room in Pai where you can get one for the same price.
Besides that, if you want to ask money for the place, ask it at the point where it is. The road continues 20km more or so with different villages. In my opinion you cant denie people entrance who want to visit those places which the 5 guys in millitairy clothes at the entrance now do though. Injustice.
Ofcourse I found my own way to get in for free (althought I rather have paid up to max 200 bath if that would support locals) but I am under the impression it is more like a business for the strongest or most dominant in the area. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.
I suggest everybody to tell at the checkpoint you want to pay 200 bath max and then leave if they dont grant you. Its on the way to the nam lod cave anyway where prices are fair so you pass it almost anyway. (checkpoint is 50meter from main road to cave road).
I hope more will write reviews like this anI hope people stay away so they understand the fee is not...
Read moreFor starters you will have to pay a National Park entry fee to get to these hot springs which is 30 Baht for Thais and 400 Baht for foreigners and then 30 Baht for a bike or 60 baht for a car to enter. There is not much at the hot springs themselves apart from a small street store serving coffee and snacks and toilets where you can have a cold shower or use the toilet but remember always bring your own toilet paper as there is never any at these places. The hot springs are nice and warm to swim in but a little uncomfortable with the pebbles flooring of the hot springs. Though it has comfortable chairs to sit on and a lot of places just to relax in the atmosphere. You will be required to carry cash on you as there is no ATM here. Also you will need a car or bike to get here as way too far to walk here from Pai town centred. The water is quite shallow but enough to just lay in and relax. I would say bring snacks and your own food to the place for a picnic rather than relying on what is for sale here. We shopped at a 7/11 on the way here. It was nice to relax in overall. I gave it 3 star as I felt the entry fee was overpriced for foreigners when most national parks in Thailand charge 200 Baht. But I guess if it’s for maintaining the park overall it’s okay. I also note they seem to be upgrading some of the facilities at the...
Read moreWARNING foreign tourists will be charged 10 times the price of Thai nationals to enter the hot spring.
Thai nationals pay 20 baht entrance fee. Foreign tourist pay 200 baht entrance fee. Car entrance fee 30 baht.
10 times the price for exactly the same hot spring, this is totally unfair.
Be prepared to be ripped off if you go.
It's not even that good. Just warm water in stoney pool, with mud all around it.
Not well looked after or tended.
No water in toilets, changing rooms no hooks, really it's not worth the 20 baht fee for Thai visitors,
Then you have to pay a further 20 baht to enter the water area itself
At a time when the price of baht for foreign currency is so strong, it is ridiculous that foreign tourist who are making effort to visit Thailand and put money into the tourist economy are paying 10 times that of a Thai to enter the national park hot spring.
I certainly do not earn 10 times my Thai partners salary...
I can not afford yo pay 10 times the price.
I will never enter a national park again until the is ridiculous penilising of non Thai...
